President-elect Donald Trump is having a heckuva time deciding on who to nominate as secretary of State. It began with former New York Mayor Rudy Giulianis insistence that he wanted and deserves the job as payback for the yeoman work he did for candidate Trump when many leading Republicans were, shall we say, less than enthusiastic in their support of his fellow New Yorker. The mayor is an up-front sort of fellow, but trying to force a new presidents hand as he did is not always the best approach for a cabinet wannabe who might have a hard time being confirmed.
At any rate, Mr. Trump began interviewing others for the job as well and before much time had passed reporters were suggesting that just about anyone who boarded the elevator at Trump Towers was there to be interviewed for the job. Mr. Trumps problem is that everyone being mentioned either knows little about the job or has more detractors than supporters outside the interview room. At the outset, former State Department official and U.N. Ambassador John Bolton was assumed to be on the short list. Mr. Bolton is incredibly popular with the conservative base, was a protege of both former Secretary of State James Baker and the late North Carolina Sen. Jesse Helms, served honorably in the administrations of both Bushes and Ronald Reagan and has, arguably, spent a lifetime preparing for the job.

I like Bolton well enough. He's not perfect, and if he was for the Iraq War, so what! So was everyone else. Many assume things would have stayed the same if we hadn't gone in, but that's not likely. Regarding the chemical weapons—common knowledge they went to Syria. I don't understand why Bush has let the adverse coverage of his decision stand without fighting back for his legacy. The decision may not have been the best one in hindsight, but many were for that war, not just the “neocons.” Problem was leaders like Rumsfeld and Brenner. The war was won and then lost through mismanagement and perifidy.
I have been tracking my feeble brain and just don’t know. Those already mentioned would do. But, “Mr. Right” is out there and just hasn’t surfaced.
What do you think about Jon Kyl-AZ?
Not.
We don’t need a pro-homosexual anti-age of consent law activist ever.
I do not care now important The Stonewall Veteran’s Association and their agenda is to you Wendle, I don’t want one of their board members anywhere near foreign policy.
He did, Three (3) times! Even though he is wrong. Bolton is the wise choice.
Everyone?
Thanks for posting.
Leave the position vacant.
LOCK HER UP!
LOCK HER UP!
LOCK HER UP!
What do you mean, “get a supporter”?
IMO, which means nothing, Trump is carefully selecting the SoS since that position will be one of the most important people to convey his message to this world. Selecting someone like the horrible choices odumbo made (Hitlary, Kerry, etc.) would be a disaster of significant proportion. The SoS position IS an extension of Trump’s agenda, not some free wheeling grafter like Clinton was.

That’s the way I see it. If there is anything that indicates to me Trump understands the nature of some of the problems he is going to face, it is his cabinet nominees. They are serious and talented, not political hacks.
Example: James Mattis vs. Ash Carter.
Bolton is faux supporter. Bolton was endorsed by John Sanunu and lindsy Graham. Need I say more? These people are enemy traitors to Trump.
I didn’t get your comment, I understand.
Newt Gingrich would suit me just fine.
