Absolutely wrong. My daughter's mom did just that, quite deliberately, because she didn't like either candidate. (Besides, being in Massachusetts, it didn't matter whether she voted for president or not.)

Yes, the argument is absurd. I knew several purist conservatives who couldn’t fill in the circle for anyone for president but wanted to vote against a meals tax in our county, so they went to the polls anyway. Left president blank.
