“I can still hear Dad & Grandpa in my head, ‘Well Sears is where you wanna go for THAT!’ LOL!”

Add my mother and hard shopping aunts to your comment and my Dad and Granddad to your list.

They said that the Sears brands, from Kenmore to Craftsman tools were the best buy for the dollar. Our local Sears where I grew up had good sales people and managers.

The Kenmore quality loyalty extended to our sons/daughters/nieces/nephews in their late 40’s now.

About years ago, the Kenmore products started conking out shortly after the warranty. Only God could help you if the warranty hadn’t run out and they sent their hit repair men out to play games with your washer/dryer/refrigerator/freezer.

Our younger relatives caught on fairly quick and stopped buying Kenmore appliances. Some friends, our age mid 70’s +- 10 years, have wasted a lot of time and money with Kenmore appliances in the past few years.

Our mechanically adept younger relatinsves stopped buying Craftsman tools when the ChiComs started making/selling the brand to other stores. Many of these younger relatives still have original Craftsman tools that are decades old and still work after hard use. I have have a few and they are on I want this, inheritance list. My granddad passed his craftsmen tools on to his son, one son in law and one of my cousins because he knew they would use and keep them instead of selling them or forgetting about them. My Dad got a few tools he wanted for home and his vehicles and for me. My sister ended up with them due to the cost of shipping them. She still uses a lot of them as a tool packing/using Granny.

My hometown had a Sears and MWs. My parents and granddad said the MW salespeople were too dumb and lazy to even get a government job. They would only shop @ Sears. An uncle, who all ways thought out of the box, told me to spend rainy afternoons in the MW’s to see if their name brand sporting goods sold. If they were not selling, make an offer to the sporting good manager if I could find him on a rainy day. I bought name brand shotguns/rifles and shells from MW at good prices, and some name brand fishing gear using his rainy day suggestion.

They built a mall in that town decades ago and MW’s was on one end and Sears on the other end. The MW closed about 2-3 decades ago and Sears in the last few years. The Sears was replaced with one of their Jack in the Box type stores, which will be closing this year.

Yep. We always had Kenmore washers and dryers and Kenmore vacuum cleaners.

Hotpoint were the kitchen appliances? I can’t remember...
