She is really stepping up.

Now if only she could get Miley to step down...and out of the country maybe.

My wife and I will be visiting Gatlinsburg and Dollywood next summer to give support for her generosity. In an era of selfish celebrities, it’s nice to see one that has a true and Godly heart for others.

She is really amazing.

Also, compared to here in SoCal, that was an amazing loss of homes and buildings. I do not know why they lost so many more than happens out here. At first I was thinking, they don’t have the same highly experience- trained firefighters as here. But my second, smarter thought was that the forests in TN may literally be less penetratable. Here there is only mid sized dry brush and the occasional scrub oak. Fire trails everywhere even if not paved, to get the trucks out there. Lots of water dropping planes.
In a real forest you can’t get to every spreading part of a fire.

The forests in Appalachia are thicker than anywhere in the country. The only place that comes close are the rain forests of the Pacific Northwest. Also, these forest fires are a 1 in 100 years event as droughts are very rare in the Smoky Mountains.

You’re so right! DOLLY seems to be a real person who sticks
to her roots and her people. The tall dark-haired girl is
still a close friend of Dolly’s even after all these years.
DOLLY is a bit TOO tolerant for my taste; but that is who
she is. (She does NOT advertise being for any political
party. That would be stupid; and DOLLY is not stupid.) A
few on FR are insistent that DOLLY is a Democrat. She has
NOT definitely stated such a preference - if anything she
made a joke about BOTH candidates being BIG BOOBS.

DOLLY PARTON DEAN absolutely will not make ANYONE feel
less than welcome at any of her business establishments.
She stresses her own shortcomings rather than faults of
others. (She sure has stuck with Carl Dean, her husband of
over 50 years.)

While I know that being homeless and jobless is real bad, being jobless is also bad, especially if you have no real job skills or health issues. My sis, BIL who has MD and their daughter all 3 worked at West Gate Resort, the ladies cleaned rooms, and he drove a golf cart to and from the employees parking lot as they were not allowed to park in the guest one, or shuttled guest around the resort. He can barely walk, if he falls he can’t get up. Wheel chair is 1-3 yrs away and their house can’t host a ramp as it is on a steep hill and 2 stories. He scoots up the stairs on his butt now. He wants to work, they all want to work, not a lazy bone in any of them. Hate UE and welfare.

What is in the works for them besides UE?

Where the HECK IS FEMA?

Think EPA and National Forest and you can get the bigger picture. They still have not said if it was a arson job yet. And the forest are dense lots of dead fall.

No one says a thing about the wild life effected or the personal pets lost.

I know every one is effected with breathing issues from the dense smoke.

Sis did not mention any bad lightening strikes before the fires and she usually keeps me posted when they have bad T storms up there.

Nashville country stars will help Dolly put on a good show. They did after the big Flood in Nashville, they forgot West TN entirely we were in news black out. Entire south side of the Navy Base flooded, the town of Millington, 1 300 unit trailer park had orange Katrina X’s on every trailer, that did not include the brick and mortar homes and businesses, we had 1 lone FEMA bus. Navy took care of it’s own. Town stunk of sewage for a month. No music stars to hold concerts, those jazz and blues artist are to selfish to think of any one but themselves.

Not a fan. The greatest thing she ever did music wise is to write “I Will Always Love You’- but it took Whitney Houston to do it justice, and yes, god bless Dolly for all she is doing to help the fire victims. Very good of her.
