According to two people close to the transition, Trump is moving away from two of the front-runners for the job, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney, the 2012 GOP nominee. Giuliani's international business ties and public campaigning for the job are said to have rankled Trump. And while Trump has met twice with Romney, he's said to be aware of the risks of angering his supporters by tapping a Republican who was among his fiercest critics.
Former CIA director David Petraeus is still in the mix, though both people close to the transition said Trump's prolonged decision-making process has left the door open to other options.
One of the sources said Trump was open to expanding his short list of secretary of State prospects. Among the possibilities: Jon Huntsman, a former Republican Utah governor who also served as the ambassador to China and speaks Mandarin.

After seeing Bolton on Hannity last night, I think it’s him.
I didn’t see anything about the dad that would cause me any alarm, but he sure didn’t pass that on to his son, this one anyways...
I don’t see Petraus (sp) making it. There are a few I would consider including TX Rick Perry. I do not necessarily approve of media politico’s.
We have many great leaders in America. I hope Trump can shy away, just a bit, from those already in the crosshairs.

Corker would be horrible, he is the author of the Corker bill, which stood the Constitution on its head so Obama could get his Iran “deal”, 2/3’s to reject instead of 2/3’s to pass.
The only good thing about making him Secretary of State is getting him out of the Senate so he can’t do any more damage like voting for the Gang of Eight amnesty.
Mr. Trump likes to get a lot of opinions before he rules. I know ideologically Bolton is a little bit suspect, but it seems to me he has the right kind of experience and would know how to initiate a cultural revolution in the state department. I think it would send a far stronger signal than putting a politician in there. Only fly in the ointment - is he owned by the Bushes?

Giuliani was the only one of these possible candidates who I saw barnstorming the country with Trump.

1. Bolton has job knowledge and guts to clean the nazis out of the snake dept.

3. No Romney. Can’t be trusted. sorry to have to say. Once he got the nomination in 2012 I worked my ass off supporting him, but he threw the election and ... in 2016 he viciously tried to defeat our nominee and elect HillLIARy.
No way do I want him anywhere in the administration now.
Its up to President Trump of course, but that’s my 2 cents worth ANYWAY. I took a great deal of heat supporting Gov. Romney (including a whole lot right here on FR!!!) but I’m through with him now. I hope Pres. Trump is, too.
The media is untrustworthy. I will wait for the President-elect to speak.

That is a great point. Corker is at Trump Tower and that is exactly what is being discussed.
Let’s see what it is. We have an honest President-Elect with full clearance. We won’t get the details, but Trump will.
It’s time for a President to explain in summary terms to all of us, what these deals are.
Trump might have intentionally put the rumor out that Giuliani was campaigning for it - maybe even ASKED him to campaign for it - as a stalking horse. It never seemed to make much sense, he has never seemed particularly foreign policy oriented.

Guiliani was the only one standing up for Trump when the liberals were going cuckoo (versus Romney).
Every rogue state in the world will send women to compromise Petraeus. They’ll be “All In” (to our classified material).
Petraeus is a PR nightmare waiting to happen - and he’s basically got Hillary classified-info-leaking syndrome.
