HONG KONG, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- Former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger met with China's Xi Jinping on Friday, a visit Kissinger described as timely in a moment of political transition in the United States.

The meeting was held as President-elect Donald Trump took a phone call from Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen, an unprecedented move that could cause friction in U.S.-China relations.

On Friday, Xi told Kissinger, "The presidential election has taken place in the United States and we are now in the key moment. We, on the Chinese side, are watching the situation very closely. Now it is in the transition period," the South China Morning Post reported.

Kissinger? Who pulled out the wooden stake from his rotting carcass and woke him up? President Trump does not need your help, if that’s what you call it.

Yup.

Logan Act
The Logan Act (1 Stat. 613, 18 U.S.C. § 953, enacted January 30, 1799) is a United States federal law that forbids unauthorized citizens from negotiating with foreign governments having a dispute with the U.S. It was intended to prevent the undermining of the government’s position.

I didn’t realize he was part of our government. And who paid for his trip?

Almost certainly China did, directly or indirectly. Kissinger's love affair with China (and other dictatorships around the world) is long and enduring. His soliloquies to Zhou Enlai and Mao in his "White House Years" are embarrassing to read.

Depends on which of "our" governments you're talking about. The one we see or the one we don't.

He had no business acting as a U.S. diplomat here.

He’s not part of the government and hasn’t been for decades.

I’ve been moderately supportive of Kissinger over the years, but this is unacceptable.

The Trump team will develop foreign policy, and he is quite capable of making his thoughts clear, even to China.

Kissinger should get a visit when he returns.

The Bilderbergers are marshaling their forces.

Yep. With the election of Donald Trump they have suffered a major setback in their war for global control. Plans are being made, allies are being consulted. The Chinese leaders are not our friends and neither are the people Henry Kissinger works for. Won't that old monster ever die?

I was thinking along those same lines. It wasn’t long ago that Kissinger went to Trump Tower...hard to believe they didn’t discuss Kissinger’s impending trip to China.

He is directly responsible for making China a super power at the detriment and decline of the US. Doesn’t deserve any attention now. He should be persuaded to hobble off into the sunset.

Henry Kissinger does not represent the US. He is just a private citizen, and what he says doesn’t mean jack shiite.

Unfortunately, Kissinger (although about 90) is still very powerful. He is at the top of the CFR and the globalist circles.

Good news is, I hope, that with Trump the CFR is losing its control over the US. Remember this quote from Hillary:

Thank you very much, Richard, and I am delighted to be here in these new headquarters. I have been often to, I guess, the mother ship in New York City, but it’s good to have an outpost of the Council right here down the street from the State Department. We get a lot of advice from the Council, so this will mean I won’t have as far to go to be told what we should be doing and how we should think about the future.
- Hillary Rodham Clinton, Secretary of State - July 15, 2009 - speaking at the Council on Foreign Relations opening of their DC office.

Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac.

Of course - with his ugly mug alone, he couldn't get a date in a Lebanese grocery store.

The Kissinger visit had to be well underway before the Taiwan phone call, and Trump met with Kissinger very recently. I strongly suspect Trump and Kissinger are working this together. There is a long tradition of presidents using informal channels of pvt citizens. Sure, Trump is still President-elect, but he has every right to start building his international relationships in his own way. I’m not worried.
