Pretty sure the owner is Jane Harmon’s Billionaire husband.
Mr. Harmon paid the $1, but control went to Barry Diller upon Harmon’s death. Newsweek was sold to IBT, and allegedly resumed print format, but I’ve never seen a copy.
When Newsweek joined Daily Beast in digital format, they gave me Time to fill out my subscription time. I’ve never heard from Newsweek since.

Sidney Harmon is the 91 year old fool who bought newsweek for a buck, and then croaked a year later.
