I’m going to go ahead and commit the sacrilege of admitting that I never particularly liked either of those novels. Even 30 years ago, I was sick of being nagged about racism.

I never read ‘To Kill a Mocking Bird’. Didn’t like the movie. I always liked Twain. He wrote a lot of stuff you never hear about..

It was as it was, it is as it is. Mores and political values change with the generations.
My father, a senior naval officer in the mid to late ‘50s, born and bred in the deep south, was the first to approve a young and top rate black graduate of Annapolis to sea duty on his ship.
