Because it has nothing to do with what you claim or don’t claim. The law states they must provide it on every policy and there’s a cost for that they include in every policy.
The insurance companies aren’t writing individualized plans anymore.
We’re talking about pre-existing conditions and health insurance pools.
If you have any kind of insurance, then you’re paying for someone else.
On my plan there is no choice for a couple. Just “individual” and “family”. As a group kids are the lowest-cost consumers of health care anyway (which is why Democrat politicians can pick them off and cover them in government CHiP programs, and then pretend that they’ve really done something).
I agree, the pre-existing exclusion rule and coverage till 26 are never going away. If they try that the media will unleash what Reagan used to call the “poor suckers from South Succotash” with their sob stories. Trump does not need that.
The very first O-care reform needs to be sunsetting the law in its’ entirety. Set a date in concrete that the law will completely be off the books.
You are telling people they have less take home pay. Will never fly.
Pre-tax income deduction brings down gross AGI and less taxes taken out as a result.
The middle class uses HSAs the most. My generation and the Millennials are completely used to them. We actually got hurt when Obamacare reduced the annual contribution limit.
What???
Healthcare Inflation Reaches Six Decade Low
So before the ACA the insurance companies were just eating this inflation?
Establishing more medical schools and putting Americans at the front of the line for admissions would also help significantly.
Too many doctors and surgeons retired early once Obamacare went into effect. They should be teaching the next generation.
I’m telling you how it sounds. It has never sold politically. There’s a reason for that. It doesn’t matter how it “works out.” You’re asking people who don’t save to save even more.
You know, I see articles like this and wonder what in freaking heck they are measuring. It has NO correlation to reality. Of course, anyone on a modest income / budget knows that the CPI is essentially useless, too.
Granted, the notion that costs / rates were not soaring B4 ObamaCare is silly too. The company I worked for was practically frantic, trying to keep its costs “level” (after overall inflation) for health insurance for its employees, changing plans every year or two. Even then, with every change, the employee contribution went up, and coverage down.
“The GOP is EXEMPT and created RomneyCARE/ObamaCARE.”
where have you been diogenes? oh, that’s right, now that Obamacare is on the minds of so many, diogenes can start talking about romney again. this man is obsessed with romney, and very likely one of those on FR in 2012 who preferred that Obama was re-elected to allowing horror of horrors: a mormon. diogenes obviously preferred a muslim loving president who would continue to flood the country with illegals as trojan terrorists. any sharia loving muslims being housed in your neighborhood yet?
Of course it works out — they get a bigger paycheck. They get more take home pay.
HR people show them the numbers and they immediately understand.
Please don’t call people stupid simply because they have lesser wages than others.
Oh, a lot of people say they like the guaranteed coverage for preexisting conditions. They don’t even seem to realize that that one provision makes it something OTHER THAN insurance.
For many people it really is insurance in name only.
Do a bit of research on how the HIPAA law is operating in your state. The last I heard, it was still in effect. It specifically applies to those who’ve maxed out COBRA and mandates issue of a policy without preexisting condition exclusions by any company selling individual coverage in the state. I was able to use it to bridge from retirement to Medicare. The policy was a little less extensive than the old employer policy, but still quite adequate.
The bill’s commonly known as Kennedy-Kassebaum.
More narrowly, it’s the coverage for pre-existing conditions without an exclusionary period that makes it an open ended entitlement.
You can pretty well quantify the costs for those who are subject to a 90 day exclusion, but allowing those who’ve contributed nothing to enroll after they’ve developed an expensive condition isn’t really something an actuary can get an accurate handle on.
Thanks, but I’ve still got a couple of years to go with COBRA, and by then who knows what will be available or how the whole health care industry might be changed.
Obamacare is about forcing a tax without calling it a tax.
The astronomical deduction with astronomical premium is essentially paying for insurance you can never use.
15000 deductible with 1500 per month premium.
addressing persisting conditions and some fixes were Reagan era solutions.
We are approaching duty to die.
