Ralph Peters: What our nation would get with Gen. Mattis as Defense Secretary
Foxnews.com ^ | LUV Ralph Peters

Posted on 12/02/2016 3:55:38 AM PST by RoosterRedux

For General Mattis, the position of Secretary of Defense wouldn’t be just another inside-the-Beltway badge to add to his resume. The greatest danger would be that he would prove too honest for D.C.

Yet another quality Mattis would bring to the office—a vital one—is that he’s a superb listener (yet another rare quality in Washington). He’s not quick to speak, but when he finally does have his say, his words show command of the subject under discussion. And he uses words with the same economy as a rifleman uses bullets: no wasted rounds.

As a member of the Hoover Institution’s Military History Working Group, he’d listen to the rest of us blather on for hours before saying a word. Then he would succinctly, politely and irrefutably explain why we had no idea what we were talking about.

What would the nation get with General James Mattis as Secretary of Defense? Integrity. Deep knowledge. Courage, both moral and physical. Humility. Decency. Vision. A steely sense of duty. Fiscal responsibility. A natural leader of men.

In short, character.

Ralph Peters endorsed Hillary Clinton in this election. His support of James Mattis would make me really consider whether this is the right guy for the position.

For cryin' out loud - how many concern trolls are going to use unthinking emotions as a venue for finding ways to second guess Trump????

Not interested in anything Ralph Peters has to say.

When it really counted, Peters supported Clinton.

He was exposed for who he truly is.

It should be remembered that Peters was not suitable for flag rank

General Mattis may be too honest for DC, but he is NOT too honest for a Trump Administration.

And as Secretary of Defense, he would be serving the Trump Administration, NOT the DC Establishment.

But if Iran or North Korea or even China are uncertain about what response they would get by pushing the wrong buttons in the presence of General Mattis, then there are an awful wide range of actions they would NOT attempt. Not necessarily that they would simply retreat, but that caution would be restored to their calculations.

They don’t call him “Mad Dog” Mattis for nothing, you know.

Yes, that was a career destroying and idiotic move on Peters' part but he is not "all left, all the time."

Some moves just destroy a person's credibility forever.

For Peters, this was one of them.

'Effing moron.

Guilt by association, or by “endorsement”, is a leftist trick. Evaluate him on your own. Don’t be a leftist.

No leftist trick involved.

Anyone, and I mean anyone, who was for Hillary Clinton, especially in the last month of the campaign, was against me, my family and my country.

Ralph Peters was exposed for the liberal flack he really is, and he looks up to pond scum, in my book.

I suspect that he won’t be the last of the childish idiots to come around to Trump. It’d be nice if some of their interviewers put the screws to these clowns: “Did you think you’d get this kind of SecDef if Hillary, whom you voted for, won?”

At this point, who really cares though. Let these jokers explain it away or come around or not come around. The good guy won. The country won.

To who, Trump? Probably not. Trump wouldn't give this guy the time of day.

Most likely he's trying to repair his reputation among Fox's viewers. I can't believe anyone would hire this dope.

The goal of Islam is world domination and the extermination of all non-Islamic peoples once that world domination is achieved.

This is just one genocide committed by Muslims/Islam in Turkey when they gained the upper hand . Muslims in Turkey exterminated 2 million Christian Armenians in 2 years starting in 2015

http://www.gendercide.org/case_armenia.html

Mad do Mattis does know Islam is political and the enemy. We need a mad dog against this enemy called Islam

4. Mattis grasps the true barbarity of radical Islam. At a 2015 congressional hearing, Mattis said, “The fundamental question I believe is, ‘Is political Islam in our best interest?’ If not, what is our policy to authoritatively support the countervailing forces?”

Some of his other quotes involving radical Islam include, per The Federalist:

“Gains achieved at great cost against our enemy in Afghanistan are reversible. We may not want this fight, but the barbarity of an enemy that kills women and children and has refused to break with al-Qaeda needs to be fought.”
“Having dealt with this enemy since 1979… we are up against an enemy that means what they say and we should not patronize them. When they say ‘girls don’t go to school’ you’re not going to talk them out of it… their views of the role of women, their views of modernity, their views of tolerance for people who think differently are fundamentally different than ours.”
