Vilsack says Democrats need better message for rural America

No one listened to Tom Vilsack.

As agriculture secretary during the entire Obama administration, the former Iowa governor has for years been telling anyone who will pay attention — farmers, members of Congress, even Hillary Clinton — that Democrats need a better message for rural America. And he’s spent most of his tenure focusing on rural development, trying to revitalize areas that ultimately voted for Republican Donald Trump in this year’s presidential election.

“The Democratic Party, in my opinion, has not made as much of an effort as it ought to, to speak to rural voters,” Vilsack said Tuesday in an interview with The Associated Press. “What’s frustrating to me is that we actually have something we can say to them, and we have chosen, for whatever reason, not to say it.” …

To Pelosi et al.......

The fly over country doesn’t matter. What matters is total control of the cities and enough money to insure the black leadership gets out the vote. Black America is concentrated in the cities and failure to motivate adequately lost the election.

Not so large changes in the city vote would have swung the election.

Until the corruption in the cities is eliminated by eliminating corrupt politicos, the situation will not change.

The Trump election will merely postpone the war

How do you change a message that says it is a good idea to have men pooping in women’s bathrooms next to your wife or daughter? You have to change the belief that such a think is ok or normal - and if they do that they start to splinter their identity politics approach. So, it is either lie or get introspective about who you are ... yeah, they’re gonna just find a better way to lie.

Rush said it and I agree: The Democrats are on the verge on no longer being a national party.

A better message... right. Not rethinking, not more respect, not appreciation, not better policies, just a better message... that’s do it.

“What’s frustrating to me is that we actually have something we can say to them, and we have chosen, for whatever reason, not to say it.”

Whatever reason? It's because they are white - that's the reason. And any attempt to reach out to them would piss off all of the racial spoils system players loosely clinging to the Democrat coalition.

They made the decision to turn themselves in the party of aggrieved minority groups - they can't complain now when the majority no longer wants anything to do with them.

They manufactured the grievances thereof as well, by destroying the traditional family in these minority enclaves.

So a message of condescension and contempt isn’t a winning strategy for the Dems?

The American People have noticed that talk is cheap (usually a lie) and actions speak volumes (usually the opposite of what they said). They cannot trust the Democrats to do what is right.

Hey Vil sack, you can’t have a plan because deep down, you hate rural Americans! I know you are from Iowa, sad to say, but you Midwest leftards are the white-guilt, pity party puke types. The left from the coasts hate rural America.

“What’s frustrating to me is that we actually have something we can say to them, and we have chosen, for whatever reason, not to say it.”

That "something" consisted of Hillary delighted at the prospect of putting the entire coal industry out of work, so maybe it would be a good idea to listen to it first before blurting it out to the electorate? More generally, that message is that government is there to protect the citizen from the evil conservatives and unequal incomes and all that other blather, which for the past eight interminable years in office they haven't done. Could be that more than a message is called for here. Something like actual performance?

Let's face it, if the Dems had done over eight years what Trump has done since 9 November, before he's even sworn into office, we wouldn't be having this conversation. The problem isn't the message, it's the content.
