Yup. I have a Jewish friend from HS who is an extremely successful and wealthy lawyer—no one’s fool until you come to politics. He is both extremely liberal and a devout Jew. I’ve asked him a few times about the increasingly anti-Israel (indeed anti-Semitic) slant of the Democratic party. I never get a real answer from him. Instead, he just talks about supporting what is “just”. It seems to be a defense mechanism of sorts for him. He has talked himself into believing that Israel is not on the side of “justice” (as he defines it).
