My personal rule: It must be deployable one-handed.
Therefore, I carry with a round in the chamber. Always.
While we apparently have a different philosophies re carrying, I respect yours.
What really matters is that you (and I) are prepared to defend ourselves, our people, and even strangers. We may approach the mechanics differently, but it is the will that really matters.
