Keep the electoral system, but call it “points” and not “votes”. Whoever hits 270 points on election day wins.

That’s how I explained it to my 8-year old son! Worked pretty well actually.

Congress and the states simply will not amend the Electoral College out of existence. It’s a complete non-starter. And I would say the same about any attempt to modify how it works. It would have to be a constitutional amendment. No way it would make it through the process. The state governments are 3 out of 5 Republican-controlled. And most states realize they have a vested interest in the status quo.

I say propose whoever wins the most counties in the state gets the electoral votes. Congress can go with districts, but the senate and the white house are done this way.

This way if there is cheating, it is limited to one county and doesn’t disenfranchise everyone else. If they want to have dead people vote in Cook County, knock yourselves out. It will only impact a single County.

Make this the focus of a Constitutional Convention and when the Democrats STB, say the option is voter ID.

These Dims are vile, poisonous creeps, just like Jill Stein and the clintons themselves!!!!

That goes DOUBLE for Lawrence Lessig of Harvard Law School. I’m a Harvard alumnus myself, and between Jill Stink and Lawrence the Least, I’m not too proud of Harvard right now!!!!

These creeps set themselves up as judges of “fitness”, and believe that the Electors should vote for the candidate they deem to be fit—Hillary clinton!!!! Well, the American voters who picked these electors have judged otherwise.

What makes the creeps of the legal underworld more fit to judge “fitness”than the voters? And what makes the illegal and La Raza infested electorate of California more qualified to elect a President (via “popular vote”) than the Electors of the 30 states that voted for Trump?

EVERY State should have a law that binds their Electors to vote for the candidate selected by that State’s voters. PHOOEY!!!!

Agree. The Electors have long since become an anachronism. Keep the electoral votes, but abolish the Electoral College.

Keep the Electoral College, but scrap the electors.

Vote by congressional district. One electoral vote per congressional district. Plus two extra for carrying the majority of the districts, or, in the event of a tie, the state's popular vote.

Under that system, Trump would probably have received 15 of California's 55 electoral votes (based on how California's House races turned out).

An additional benefit of going by congressional districts: Fraud in any one district could at most steal the district, because surplus votes in a district would not matter. The impact of the unfortunate fact that certain states (also having lots of EVs) have congressional districts encompassing urban Democrat cesspools would be limited to the CDs involved, and could at most also steal the state's two extra EVs.
