They came pretty close to doing that already with the terrible 2010(?) prequel, where Kurt Russell's character is replaced by a 20-something girl (who is inexplicably smarter, braver, tougher, and more rational than every single man on the base, who are all either corrupt, stupid, irrationally paralyzed with fear, or cowardly). I turned the movie off about halfway through, a reminder of why I usually don't watch remakes, sequels, or prequels of older movies that I enjoyed.
