Failed general election candidates for pres rarely ever run again. People such as McGovern, Jimmy Carter, Mondale, Dukakis, Al Gore, John Kerry, John McCain never ran for president again after losing a general election.
The Clintons are not exactly beloved in the Democrat party. There’s no way in 2020 that they would grease the skids for 73 year old Hillary to go for it again.

Well, the Dems nominated Estes Kefauver against Ike in 1952 and again in 1956.
Old Estes got creamed both times.
