Perhaps they kidnapped the wrong woman and it took them three weeks to figure it out. I don’t find it to be much of a stretch to imagine this might be the case.
They grabbed the wrong trophy wife and sent a random letter to her husband. He gets home from work and sees her in the kitchen making dinner and throws the letter away thinking it was a hoax or a stupid prank. In the meantime, the dumbass lesbian wetbacks are sitting around wondering why that stupid, pinche gringo hasn’t responded with payment. They become so agitated and upset that they beat the crap out of their hostage demanding to know why her husband won’t pay the ransom. When they finally realize their mistake, and lacking the courage of their convictions, they drive her to a rural location and throw the woman out if the van and haul ass out of the county.
