Muslim Community Fears Backlash After Ohio State Attack
NPR ^

At an off-campus coffee shop Monday, Ohio State University senior Mohamed Farah catches up on his homework.

"I didn't get a lot of work done today just because there's a lot going on," he says. "I tried to stay away from the news, but I kept going back to it."

Enlarge this image Ohio State University senior Mohamed Farah says his stomach fell when he heard the attacker was also a Somali refugee. Esther Honig/WOSU 89.7 Farah first learned of an attack on campus when security sent a text to the entire university: "Active shooter on campus: Run Hide Fight."

But the attacker did not use a firearm. According to police, he drove a car into pedestrians, then got out and attacked people with a butcher knife. Eleven people were injured before police shot and killed the suspect.

Farah says at first he feared for the safety of his friends and fellow students. Then, as more details were confirmed, his fears turned inward.

"When I first heard that he was Somali, I mean my stomach did fall," he says. "Not just because of what happened today, but because of what will happen tomorrow."

Police identified the suspect as Abdul Razak Ali Artan, who The Associated Press say was a refugee from Somalia.

Farah, who is a Somali refugee and a Muslim, says attacks blamed on terrorism have a familiar aftermath on campus: snide comments, peering eyes and a feeling of uneasiness.

Suspect Killed After Knife And Vehicle Attack At Ohio State University THE TWO-WAY Suspect Killed After Knife And Vehicle Attack At Ohio State University "Those Somali men and women, the ones that wear a head scarf or the ones like myself with the name Mohamed, tomorrow will be a day of trepidation," he says.

Looking through tweets, Farah says the negative ones from his fellow OSU students are the most painful, like one that says as a Somali refugee, Artan "bit the hand that fed him."

"That one really, it shakes the core of you, you know," Farah says.

At the moment little is known about Artan. Authorities believe he acted alone but they do not know the motives behind the attack. In August, the recent transfer student was interviewed by the school newspaper in a series called "Humans of OSU." Artan said he didn't feel comfortable praying on campus.

Enlarge this image Horsed Noah, director of one of the largest Islamic centers in Columbus, says when he heard about the attack he had one though: "I hope [the suspect] is not a Muslim." Esther Honig/WOSU 89.7 "If people look at me, a Muslim praying," he said, "I don't know what they're going to think."

Horsed Noah, director of one of the largest Islamic centers in Columbus, runs a youth group for Somali men and women. He says he didn't know Artan, but reading that interview, he thinks the young man had become isolated.

"That definitely should have been a red flashing light," Noah says.

Noah says when he first heard about the attack at OSU, he had one thought: "I was with my wife and I said, 'I hope he is not a Muslim.' "

On Monday, Noah held community meetings to calm parents and children who are scared to return to work and school. He says his community is as shocked as the rest of the country.

Today, classes at OSU resume.

"I'd be lying if I said I wasn't dreading it, but I don't think I'm going to skip class. I think I'm going to be there. I'm going to have conversations," Farah says. "I choose love. I affirm life.

Farah says he is as proud as ever to be a Buckeye.

"I hope [the suspect] is not a Muslim."

Gee, Horsed, why would your first thought be that the attacker might be a muslim? Well, other than the propensity of muslims to conduct such attacks, of course.

“I didn’t get a lot of work done today just because there’s a lot going on,” he says. “I tried to stay away from the news, but I kept going back to it.”

He kept going back to it because he was hoping there would be even more death and carnage.

Muslimbs are a Trojan horse. They relish the victim status only until they have overwhelming numbers. They never care about THEIR victims.

"The media seem to run on prescribed story lines."

Seem to? It is deeply engrained. Just watch as they move from meme to meme, as a collective mind, often using exactly the same phrases and buzz-words. Last week's theme was "fake news." The week before that it was "Trump election unleashes wave of hate crimes." The week before that it was "anti-Trump demonstrations 'mostly peaceful.'"

Any Muslim terrorists attack is followed by the "fear of backlash" stories, and the Muslim community is exonerated, virtually treated as a victim; any attack by a Christian or right-winger is followed by the "crime was caused by 'heated rhetoric' stories," and the entire community is implicated.

If they fear backlash, maybe they ... as a group ... should do something about these attacks. Just a thought ...

“Islamophobia” was a market tested CAIR concocted b.s. term meant to silence critics.

They lifted it (ironically) from the homosexual lobby who created “homophobia” as an ad homonym way of silencing critics.

It’s a clever use of language as a political weapon.

“You’re against our political agenda? Then you have a phobia. You should get some counseling for that.”

Don’t argue the actual issue at hand (Muslims killing us; gays degrading the culture). Instead, lob a personal insult disguised as psychobabble.

LITTLE is known of him ???!!???

"In May 2016, Artan was listed as a graduate of the Columbus State Community College. He was a student of the school of arts and sciences. During his Humans of Ohio State piece, Artan complimented the prayer facilities at Columbus State Community College. The school said, in a statement to ABC News:

Abdul Razak Ali Artan was enrolled at Columbus State Community College from autumn semester 2014 through summer semester 2016. He graduated with an associate of arts degree in spring of 2016 and then continued taking additional noncredit classes through summer semester 2016."

In the wake of Muslim terrorist attacks, schools initiate “anti-bullying” programs to protect Muslims, forgetting that terrorism, including Islamic terrorism, is the worst form of bullying.

Noah says when he first heard about the attack at OSU, he had one thought: "I was with my wife and I said, 'I hope he is not a Muslim.' "

I wonder why this muslim director would automatically assume the attacker was a muslim. Odd that.

They're nothing if not consistent.

Tomorrow we will start to see stories blaming...

wait for it...

DONALD TRUMP!

Yes, I predict we will see people in the MSM blame Donald Trump for the Ohio State attack.

I’ll write the story:

“Donald Trump’s heated rhetoric in the campaign and after is resulting in psychological breakdowns leading to violence. Muslims already fearful and threatened due to Islamophobia in this horribly racist country are now concerned they and their families will be part of some early Nazi-style registration. Some, like the Ohio State suicide lone wolf attacker, are being pushed over the edge.”

Note it’s ALWAYS ‘suicide lone wolf attacker, nothing to do with international terrorism, a troubled kid, had mental issues, lone wolf, just him, nothing to worry about sheeple!’

Muzzlimes: if you don’t want backlash, don’t act like rabid rats among civilized humans. Since that seems to be impossible for you, as your normal human inhibition controls are busted, go back to the slime holes you came from and rue the day you screwed up your opportunity to live in “the land of the free and the home of the brave”. We offered you peace, safety, and opportunity. You repaid that with the death and maiming of the innocents of those who held out a welcoming hand. Screw you and the spavined camels you rode in on.

Re: The media seem to run on prescribed story lines. So, now that we have endured yet another terrorist attack committed by a deranged Muslim, they bring out stories already written, about fears of the Muslims about backlash. The stories were already written; they just waited for opportune times to publish these stories.

They are a lot like frozen TV dinners. Already made. Just need to be popped into the oven or microwave. Whip off the foil. Stir a little and serve. I can envision a cartoon of the MSM going to their freezer to take out the latest frozen storyline.

There is NO Muslim ‘community’. There are citizens who are Muslim.

The ‘community’ crap is a silly take off on the ‘black community’ idiocy. It’s a way for self appointed corrupt thugs to push themselves to power.

If we accept the words and silly constructs of the left we won’t be able to make sane changes. In our country our ‘leaders’ are the people we elect. The ‘leaders’ in Muslim areas ARE THE PEOPLE THEY ELECT USING THE SAME SYSTEMS AS OTHER AMERICANS.

Ever notice that there are NO WHITE LEADERS? We elect - period. And every other group must do the same.

I do not understand why we even have any of them.

They could be assisted in lands closer to home, among those of their own religion.

Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, Nigeria for example.

Obtw, any Muslim refugee who commits such a heinous crime and destroys the lives of American families here the terrorists families should be deported IMMEDIATELY!!! The family of the gay bar killer in FL are happily walking the streets living a normal life hailing silently their son as a hero( because the Koran teaches killing gays is an honorable thing and will get you 72 virgins in heaven) with help of CAIR, with no repercussion or consequence while those gays murdered their families are still grieving! Seems that everybody has forgotten about them!
