Nuclear option fades in the GOP Senate
The Washington Examiner ^ | November 29, 2016 | Susan Crabtree

Key Senate Republicans say they won't support a change to Senate rules that would allow President-elect Trump to quickly get his Supreme Court nominee confirmed, a sign that Trump may find it harder than he was hoping to replace the late Justice Antonin Scalia.
.
.
.
Republican Sens. Pat Roberts of Kansas, Bob Corker of Tennessee, Jeff Flake of Arizona and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina have all said they would not support a change.

"It looks like we need to start protesting these stupid RINO Senators and it looks like we have to work to “primary them out”, before their next elections."

I would suggest more 'James O'keefes' to follow these scumbag demoncrat fluffers around. Investigate the hell out of them, Alinsky them....force them out of office in disgrace.

You know graham must be on the d.c. pizza party invite list.

Let's git er done.

“It will take many elections to turn this around, at least two more “

America’s survival doesn’t have time for that nonsense.

Investigate them. Expose what flake Graham’s been putting his Corker in...Alinsky them, force them out of office from a scandal.

You know they’re all dirty as hell. It’s time to clean house.

“but in 2013, then-Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., opted to go nuclear and change the filibuster rules for all presidential executive appointments, excluding only Supreme Court nominations.”

Yawn. Reid knew at the time that there were no pending SCOTUS vacancies to fill, so his little bone he threw at Republicans to exclude Supreme Court nominations means nothing. He knew Obama had numerous other appointments to fill and specifically cherry picked and excluded those appointments from the filibuster. Had a SCOTUS pick been pending, you can be sure he would’ve included those too.

All Trump has to do is get copies of all the RAT Senators NSA/FBI files, that have been compiled by the Clintons and Obamas, place them on the respective Senators desks and tell them that those files will be “accidentally” leaked if they don’t behave.

Or just go ahead and publish them all anyway and let the chips fall.

If conservatives don’t win on the Romney fight, what are the chances of winning on a SCOTUS fight?

I expect Trump won’t go wobbly on this one since the conservative opposition successfully had him go explicitly on record with his list of names. But what happens if the Dems block everybody on his list? Does he then look for a “compromise” candidate? Do we have a Harriet Myers incident?

The 25th amendment requires the V.P. to sign off on stripping the Prez of his powers. Obviously not going to happen.

What do you mean not win on a Romney fight?

There is no fight here, Trump gets to pick who he wants.

You sound like the same doom and gloomers who thought Trump was going to lose the election.

Election years always succeed in outing the democrat moles, both in the media and the GOP.

Schumer will let those 5 vote yes, and a couple of the others. He just needs 40 votes to win a filibuster.
. . . and that is why it is critical that good candidates be recruited for at least the dozen most vulnerable (in 2018) Democrat senators.

There won’t be an incumbent Democrat (or anyone, period) running for POTUS in ’18 as there was in ’12. Those 25 Democrat Senators know what happened to many of the members of their caucus when they faced that circumstance in ’10 and ’14.

Likewise the Republicans know that they will face uphill circumstances themselves - tho not as extreme as what the Dems will face in ’18 - in ’20 and ’22. They know that if they hope to control the Senate after ’20 they had better pick up seats in ’18. So it’s logical that the Republicans would work hard to put Senate Democrats on the wrong foot in the next Congress. And for all 25 of those Democrats needing reelection to be wary of unforced errors like opposing SCOTUS nominees favored by a majority of the voters in their home states.

“Sens. Pat Roberts of Kansas, Bob Corker of Tennessee, Jeff Flake of Arizona and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina”

The usual suspects... The only ones missing are Limp Wrist Lamar and McInsane.

The Republican senate needs to be brought to heel early by Trump and have it explained to them, they can run against the democrats or him and the democrats, pick an option, either way you are going to lose.

But this isn’t the story. The real story is that they will vote to restore the fillibuster to all nominees. The usual GOP suspects will lead the charge.

I agree with your approach and posted something along those same lines about a week ago. Bottom line is they used it against Republicans and now its payback time. Let them experience some painful consequences and maybe they’ll think hard before they try it again.

If there are no consequences, they can expect more of the same political bullying from the Dems.

The good news here is that Trump is a businessman who has no patience for this kind of sh!t.

**************

Four years of Washington politics is going to test Trump’s patience. Every president experiences it and Trump will be no exception.

In some respects it may be harder for him to live with than it is for a career politician who is used to the process intensive environment, bureaucratic inertia, and constant power struggles.

Trump can get a mob to drag Linseed Graham out of his house and tar and feather him.

If these scumbags think we have come this far only to be thwarted by the likes of them, they are completely insane.

LOL

Trump needs to make sure that all Senators who voted against nuclear option, have a primary opponent in their next campaign.

That's how LOSERS work.

More drastic measures are called for.
