Understanding Colin Kaepernick
Powerline ^ | 28 Nov 2016 | Paul Mirengoff

Those who say that Colin Kaepernick is a patriot acting in the finest tradition of American dissent thoroughly misunderstand the outspoken quarterback. This view was probably a stretch back when Kaepernick was simply disrespecting America by kneeling during the National Anthem.

Now, the view is untenable. Two recent developments show that Kaepernick’s behavior falls within the worst tradition of American dissent — the tradition of the totalitarian-sympathizing far left.

Consider first Kaepernick’s response to Fidel Castro’s death. As John reported here, Kaepernick took a “mixed” view of the bloodthirsty tyrant:

I agree with [Castro’s] investment in education. I also agree with the investment in free universal health care, as well as the involvement with him in helping end apartheid in South Africa. I would hope that everyone believes those things are good things. Trying to push the false narrative that I was a supporter of the oppressive things that he did is just not true

You can’t say that anymore. You know that. LOL! Lucky for me my last 24 years in my career was basically a remote facility from the main plant or my whole group would have been fired a couple dozen times. At least. What an irreverent bunch we were. One incident had our corporate legal counsel head cheese show up to do some ‘investigating’ into a particular incident. When it came my turn, she asked me if I was intimidated by her position. I didn’t say what went through my head but instead said “No, your position doesn’t make a difference to me.” ;-)

If Kaepernick’s true concern was equality he could do quite a bit to advance his cause by sharing out the $120 million dollars he will get for basically just playing a game.

Kneeling down during the National Anthem and praising Castro doesn’t do a thing at all to help those he claims are oppressed.

But they (whoever “they” are) would feel a lot less oppressed with a couple hundred thousand of his dollars in their pockets.

He hasn’t helped anyone at all with his childish antics and uninformed opinions.

He almost won against the Dolphins, but was laid out by a son of a Cuban refugee to stop a last second TD.

Irony can be so... ironic.

the tradition of the totalitarian-sympathizing far left

The Left is envious of their power, which is what liberalism is really all about.

Kaepernick is nothing to me and nothing to most Americans.

He’s an overpaid, professional football player, who’s also a hate spewing, anti-America, racist of limited intelligence.

“If you truly believe that American democracy is a hoax and that there is no real difference between Democrats and Republicans, you are either the ultimate cynic or the captive of an extreme anti-American ideology.”

Or, if you truly believe that a Plymouth Valiant is the same as Plymouth rock is the same as Prince Valiant is the same as Valeant Pharmaceuticals than you have a brain the size of a walnut.

What’s to understand? He’s a dipshit looking for publicity. He bet on this increasing his profile for when his contract is up. Instead, he’s toxic.

What’s not to understand? The guy spews every liberal cliche that he’s ever heard. I highly doubt that he’s ever had an original thought in his lifetime.

This is a half-white punk, who had countless white people help him, and pisses down their backs every time he opens his trap. He is a petulant, pathetic, and weak man.

There is no difference between the Democrat Party leadership and the former and still some Republican leaders in both houses. In fact a lot of what the Bush family and the rest of the GOPe they areon the same page as the democrats.

If not point out the difference, besides abortion, hell the GOPe want us to drop that issue.

It seems he was trying to head off getting cut by setting up a political diversion; he can play, but nearly well enough for that pay.

I view the whole order of events a miracle.

Kaperprick wears a Castro shirts and makes pro-Castro comments in meeting with a journalist. Miami instantly is outraged. Castro dies the next day, and Miami is partying in the streets. The day after that, Kaperprick is showered with boos. He team loses with him being laid out by a Cuban refugee’s son on the games final play. God has a sense of humor.

He is not intelligent enough to process the information his girlfriend has been giving him. The Nazis would have loved a guy like Kaepernick to indoctrinate. No brainwashing required - his brain was already empty and ready to receive anything.

The idea is not to understand Kaepernick but to push him aside on our way to a new America. I don’t care why he decided to openly disrespect my country because he is just another enemy who needs to be defeated.
