Democrats Clinch A Supermajority In Both Houses of The California Legislature....

NOV. 28, 2016. Democrats Clinch A Supermajority In Both Houses of The California Legislature After Josh Newman Wins State Senate Seat

Democrat Josh Newman has defeated Assemblywoman Ling Ling Chang (R-Diamond Bar) to win the race for the 29th Senate District, giving Democrats in the Legislature a two-thirds majority in both houses.

The Associated Press called the race Monday evening for Newman, who had been steadily gaining ground as provisional and absentee ballots were counted over the last three weeks.

“I am immensely honored to have earned the trust and support of so many of my neighbors, who’ve placed their faith and trust in me as their next state senator," Newman said in a statement, crediting his supporters with helping counter what he called the "obscene levels of spending" in the race.

Democrats had already secured a supermajority in the state Assembly with the defeat of Republican legislators Young Kim (R-Fullerton), Eric Linder (R-Corona) and David Hadley (R-Manhattan Beach).

With a supermajority, a political party can raise taxes, place measures on the statewide ballot, enact laws immediately with an “urgency” clause and override a governor’s veto.

In a statement, Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de Leon congratulated Newman on his "clear and impressive victory."

It’s going to be like Cuba before long.

I hope America doesn’t go that way.

Sorry to see this in a State so well-endowed with natural beauty, talent, and fine people . . . all so uncharacteristic of Democrats.

It’s just what the non-white vote has wrought. And it’s what democrats have in mind for all of America.

...

Yes, but the GOPe wants it, too. CA is an example of what happens when the GOP gives up on winning, because it likes the opportunities for corruption that the Democrats implement.

Ling Ling Change, the Republican dimwit in the article, voted for the anti-gun laws in June. That was after she got an A rating from the NRA.

She deserved to lose.

Reagan’s state. That’s what happens when all your ideas are really great, except for the one about being lax on illegals. So now they have control over all that money

It won’t make much difference. The Dem legislature has had its way in CA for a long time. Slowly (not so slowly), Southern CA is becoming Mexico.

Great, that portends an acceleration of locusts fleeing across the Sierras into Nevada to further foul our once immaculate nest, but at least we will get even more freakin’ restaurants that serve kale tacos.

I left three years ago. I saw the handwriting on the wall.

Actually California is destined for economic taxing failure. The majority of California voters receive more from the state than they pay in taxes to the state. Thus they will vote for the democrat party that promises more largess from the taxpayers. They have passed the tipping point of rational economics. California is doomed economically. When revenues are not enough they will raise taxes more and more and more. This kills business that is the engine of revenue for the state.

Why do you think more and more and more high tech companies are relocating to Texas and other rational states? These companies may have liberal management but they do understand economics.

Socialistic ideology is destroying California. It will be bankrupt in a few years. California is doomed. Sadly California is a beautiful state that should be our greatest state economically and its natural beauty is magnificent. California brewed its own economic poison and drank deeply from its glass.

California doesn’t have to wait for “the big one” (earthquake) to destroy the state ... the Dem super majority will do it for them.

It’s amazing what you can do when half your state’s votes are illegal or fraudulent.

Look at the bright side: lots of leftists and illegals across the country move to SD, LA and SF, so CA acts as a leftist sink, freeing up other states from the ill effects of leftism and concentrating their toxicity in CA.
