We really NEEDED the rain. They’re evacuating Gatlinburg tonight because the high winds today have sent wildfires in the area towards it. The smoke showed up on the radar as rain but now rain IS in that area. Hope it’s enough to put out the fires.
More rain in the forecast tomorrow night and Wed. WOOHOO!
We’d love for him to come back but we’re realists. The odds are coyotes got him. Been through this too many times over the years. :-(
Sounds like a nice relaxing day overall.
Sounds like you and Penny are both happy with the new living arrangement. :-)
You should watch a comedy to liven your spirits a bit!
I just now finished Peter Seller's "The Pink Panther Strikes Again", laughing all the way through, great old comedy!
Thank you!
Yeah, it stinks. If he’d just stayed in the yard and not been gone at dusk when the vile creatures head out to hunt.
I watched Raiders of the Lost Ark a little while ago on SyFy and that helped perk me up. It’s a fun movie. Now that the weather report is over, I’ll look for something else fun to watch.
We got a sprinkle or two yesterday....and 4/10ths of an inch on Saturday night. WooHoo! It was warm, windy and sunny today and supposed to cool off during the rest of the week into the weekend.
THIS is where my son and his family are moving to in January. He's there now to begin his new job. BRRR!! It's surrounded by beautiful mountains.
It's also a very long way from here. *sniff*
OKC son is moving to Wyoming?
We are thrilled to get rain tonight! It’s been a soaking rain, which is what we needed more than anything. Some areas got heavier rain with flooding.
Just hope they get enough in the mountains to put out the fires. Gatlinburg was evacuated tonight and last report was the power was out in a lot of the town. The winds were horrendous all day and really fanned the fires big time.
If what they predict for tomorrow night comes true, we’ll get a heavy drenching. We’ll take all we can get!
Nope, Raivis never came home and there’s been no sighting of remains by us or a couple of friends who were deer hunting in our woods and surrounding woods over the weekend. Doubt we’ll see him again.
OOF! Looks cold where your son’s going. But they’ve decorated the town square beautifully for the Christmas holidays ahead.
Yeah, that’s a long way off from TX, isn’t it? :-(
Yep. Or Idaho. Whichever office he’s assigned to.
I am thrilled for him and his family...but not for us. Can’t drive up there in 7 1/2 hours. :)
?
Good evening, radu...finally getting here. It’s been a Mom evening. She keeps hearing things and I have to find them.
She heard on the news today that some idiot in shorts and no shirt broke into two houses this morning about 5am and tried to sexually assault 2 women at different houses...one successful, one not. I’m hoping he tries again and gets shot! But she is sure he is coming here. I keep telling her to just push her MedicalAlert button. I hope they catch the clown soon. Getting in the front door or deck door requires breaking the glass.
I’m not really worried, but she has gotten herself all worked up.
Any rain coming your way? Sounds like your fires aren’t getting any beter.
So glad you all are getting rain! I hope the other parts of the southeast do too. I’ve been to Gatlinburg and it’s so beautiful. Also, the American Eagle Foundation is in Murphreesboro and they worry about the fires reaching them.
I pray that these fires are out soon and that the creeps who set them are punished to the fullest extent of the law!
That archway in the picture? Made of antlers. There is another one on the other side of the square. the “Shootout” cam. I kind of look forward to trying to go up there..somehow...in the summer! :)
Oh boy. Sounds like another “fun” night ahead.
Hope they find that creep QUICKLY! Be nice if they find him frozen since he seems to like running around with no clothes to speak of. Finding him with a bullet hole between the eyes would work too.
We got .7 an inch of rain tonight and they say we’ll get a heavier hit tomorrow night. Praying enough is coming down to help with the fires across the state, especially the monster by Gatlinburg. The high winds we had today didn’t help at all with the fires, that’s for sure. This state is a tinder box. I’m still shocked - and relieved - we haven’t had any break out around here.
With luck, we’ll get all the rain they’re predicting the next two days to add to what we got tonight. We’re desperate for it. We’ve been worrying about our well going dry and need the water table back up. Maybe the tide’s turning now.
I forgot about the eagle foundation at Murfreesboro. There have been fires in that county but nothing like the fires in the mountains. Those have been the worst. I’ve only heard about one creep being busted for starting a few of the fires and don’t know if they’ve managed to identify and arrest any others.
The archway is made of antlers? How cool! I’ll check the link during the daytime to see what it looks like when it isn’t lit up.
Yeah, summertime sounds like a good time to visit. LOL!
I can’t believe how long these fires have been burning! It must be as dry as the desert and with all the wood and undergrowth, nearly impossible to contain. Bet the fire fighters are worn completely out!
Good morning, Mac...*HUGS*...thinking about Christmas decorations yet?
It’s VERY dry, all across the state. I’ve never seen it so dry.
The fires keep popping up everywhere. One gets put out and another one flares up.
The fires in the mountains just keep going once they start. There are small towns all along the mountains but most of it’s wilderness.
Firefighters from other states have come in to help but it’s overwhelming. And I’d say you’re right that they’re all exhausted. This has been going on what seems like forever. Praying for the rain they’re predicting. It should make a world of difference.
I might leave this on all night...the sound of rain is so wonderful!
GREAT! And this means no fire has reached that area. The eagle looks like it’s enjoying the rain after not seeing/feeling it in so long. :-)
That IS a beautiful sound, especially after we haven’t heard it in so long around here. I wanted badly to open a window when it was raining here earlier but it was a little too cool for that.
