President-elect Trump will hold a second meeting with Mitt Romney this week to discuss the position of secretary of state, much to the chagrin of some in his circle who have said Romney is undeserving of the top diplomatic post.

Why not go for country unity and select Barack Obama. He’s qualified, he’ll know what’s needed and he’ll just be carrying out the Trump policy anyways. To hear some Romney supporters tell it it doesn’t matter who you put in the position because it’s just a figure head job so I see your Romney and I raise you Obama

Montague, that sure sounds like a lot of tin foil hat type your spouting. Why sing we just wait and see what Trump does instead of thinking that Mitt is putting the heavy in play.

But it is his choice, we need to let him make the decisions.

Romney is a rascal! He is just as bad as his daddy was. I can barely think of him without a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. Ugggggh...
But Trump is a shrewd administrator. I doubt that this is just a trial balloon. Trump is also completely guileless and cannot carry a grudge as far as the end of the driveway. There is no way he is manipulating Romney into some kind of humiliation. So, what is the president-elect thinking?

I keep wondering what Romney might be like in dealing with Germany, Sweden, and other “socialist allies”. I have to admit that he would do a good job with them and lead them to the same kind of resigned accommodation to Trump that he has himself adopted.

He represents a significant constituency all over the country, and this might get those people into the program.

He would be out of the country most of the time, and he would conscientiously implement Trump’s policies. He is nothing if not a loyal employee, and anyway Trump will have no problem managing him.

He was almost president you know, and when he sits down with Putin, or Kim Jong, or the Ayatollah they will treat him with deference and understand that he is speaking for our whole country. They did so with Hillary, because they thought that she was going to be president. Anybody that I would approve of is not going to be respected on the world stage. Furthermore, Romney is better in every way than almost every head of state in Europe or Asia.

When Honest Abe took office, he filled his government with people who had fought the hardest against him, not for the reason you think, but because he had a war on his hands. If Trump does the same, I am good with it.

Sure it can. Trump can be telling him that there is too much backlash to appoint Romney.

Another thought. When Ronald Reagan picked Richard Schweiker as his running mate, we were horrified. A Rockefeller liberal, he was as bad or worse than a Mitt Romney!

Later when Reagan ran again, he again picked a New England Blueblood as his running mate and won!

When he became president, Reagan put Schweiker in his cabinet, Sec. of HHS, and he did a good job, even tried to reform social security.

If you know NOTHING about Romney then you are sorely lacking in the reading/paying attention/keeping up current event arena. That’s sad.

Thanks for the non-sequitur. It’s always fun when someone looks down on me with words.

Btw, we still know nothing about what Trump is discussing with Mittens—which is what I stated earlier.

Hope you have a wonderful evening. Peace :)

Maybe he’s just taking Romney to dinner to soften the blow that he’s not going to offer him the position of State.

EXACTLY......! Trump’s life would be better insured by Rudy Giuliani in #4

Choose Alan Keyes before Romney.

“Keyes was appointed Ambassador to the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations by President Ronald Reagan, and served as Reagan’s Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs from 1985 to 1987.

At a fundraiser for Keyes’s senate campaign, President Reagan spoke of Keyes’s time as an ambassador, saying that he “did such an extraordinary job ... defending our country against the forces of anti-Americanism.” Reagan continued, “I’ve never known a more stout-hearted defender of a strong America than Alan Keyes.”
