WikiLeaks released Monday more than half a million U.S. diplomatic cables from the year 1979.
If any year could be said to be the year zero of our modern era, 1979 is it, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange said in a press release.
In the Middle East, the Iranian revolution, the Saudi Islamic uprising and the Egypt-Israel Camp David Accords led not only to the present regional power dynamic but decisively changed the relationship

The Iranian Revolution as year zero?
So this is about radical islam?
Bkmrk.
Jimmy Cahtah is going to come out looking like even more of an arse than he already does.
Jimmy Carter was President from 1977 to 1981... these leaks will show the horrors he inflicted on the world...
LOL......Oh my, that would be wonderful.
Oh my.....glancing over this a bit...wow.
1979 tracks with me too. I was 21 in ‘79 and a student at The University of Texas because they had the nearest school of pharmacy to my hometown. I’d voted for Ford in ‘76 for my own reasons but didn’t really have a political leaning. As I walked from class to class on the UT Austin campus I had to pass Iranian students protesting against MY country every day. I actually found a group of like-minded fellow students in my pharmacy classes who were also outraged that these people were behaving this way on OUR soil even though they had taken refuge here and were being paid to attend MY school. In that year, at that time, I discovered I was a hard core conservative and patriot. Haven’t wavered since. With every attack by these moslem hooligans I’ve become more firmly entrenched in the belief that they all need to either meet Jesus or allah and stay in their own countries to do so. Scourge of the earth.
Nice...yet 72 sweet!
That s a very good observation (Because I made the same one myself)
Jimmuh Carter got us into this mess. He should have left the Shah Of Iran to do what he always did, to keep these muzzies in line.
Now, the world has to do it- with liberals on our backs screaming at us to move forward, while actually impeding our progress.
Yep....i knew a couple of Iranians back in the day....they had to leave Iran back then or be killed.
Yess! 442! Another sweet ride. Hubby had a 70 Challenger when I was dating him. That was a sweet ride to. Got to drive it a couple of times..
My older brother had a ‘71or ‘72, 442 W-30, yellow / black. And my brother in law, had a Hurst/Olds, silver/black.
Yes!
I’ve read that 1979 was the peak and beginning of the decline of US industry.
