After swimming around in the Twitter swamp for a few minutes (ughh) it seems Joe let it “slip” that his source was Trump himself...this is from conversations around @RickWilson (another ughh)...so I tend to think you’re right.

Or this is another of Trump’s brilliant manuvers. No one wants loser Romney, especially after how he went off on Trump. Now, we hear Trump wants and apology but it hasn’t come. I’ve thought for days Trump is making Romney eat crow and is stringing him along until the final slap down. With Kellyanne going so far off script calling out her boss. But, she’s also taking jabs at Romney. This may be exactly what Trump wants. Beating Romney so far down he never attempts another failed campaign.
if they are trolling, they are losing me. remember Mike Pence said he MR was under strong consideration. something is amiss- either KA is off the reservation, the trump train is split and at war or the team is using pretty ugly tactics with MR being dragged through the mud. whatever it is, get it together - name the SOS -fix staff problems- and get moving. the Dems are already trying to delegitimize DJT with recount - not a great idea to do it by puerile/chaotic/disunited actions by team itself. just sayin’

One thing to keep in mind is Trump’s past of trolling. Ex. Pretending to be a John Miller PR rep then years later leaking the interview tape and claiming in public he didn’t leak it.

He could have leaked this info to Joe while at the same time being okay with Kellyanne doing the Romney attack dogging..all the while Romney doesn’t get the gig but was at least under consideration.
The real loser is this trolling farce is Romney...even if he gets the SOS gig. He is tainted in the American Public’s Eyes and he knows it. So does the GOPE.
Look, if you want to give him a gig, Trump, put him in charge of the VA..then fire him if he doesn’t do a good job.

Right—I think the Priebus/Spicer/Ryan gang has been gunning for her from the start of the transition.
They might put up with Bannon—but with the MSM going after him so, they could have set that up too. But if Bannon and Conway were both in the close to Trump, they could keep him better on track to fulfill his campaign promises, rather than roll over for the Ryan/McConnell administration—as Ryan and presumably Priebus have been aiming for.
I can't imagine Kellyanne Conway would have wanted this position. It seems like the people in this post turn over every 1-2 years on average. Jen Psaki is the 23rd White House Communications Director since Ronald Reagan took office.
