I always liked them best with just a hint of garlic in the butter.
Gotta use real butter and fresh garlic.
I prefer pesto and various other seasonings mixed into the melted butter, but yeah, melted butter is the way to go. Heaven.
An artichoke is just a delivery system for butter.
Melted butter with a dash of lemon juice is my choice - just enough to taste but not overpower.
Was stationed in Southern Italy in late '70s and they grew a lot of artichokes there.
