“Do you really grow artichokes? Ive never had one. Seems like lots of work for little reward.
You peel each “leaf” and dip it in melted butter. Then you peel off the “meat” with your teeth as you pass it through your mouth.
Delicious.
Some people dip it in mayo, but I’m a melted butter man... “
And then you get to the “heart”, that’s wonderful. I am neither a mayo nor a butter man, I like ‘em straight!
Surely you cook them first? Had an artichoke once, recall leaves in melted butter. Recall delicious.
Only once,. Sad.
You know, if you look hard enough for something, you can usually convince yourself you’ve found it. Talk about defensive mechanisms and other psychological issues... Liberals are desperately looking for any convoluted connection(s) they can make to try to relate *any* resistance to their agenda as racism.
You are a racist. No “might” about it.
The author uses the trick of lumping legitimate questioning (Obama’s place of birth) with actual racism. After all his own publisher called him “Kenyan born” in his official bio. Had nothing to do with race.
I always liked them best with just a hint of garlic in the butter.
Gotta use real butter and fresh garlic.
I prefer pesto and various other seasonings mixed into the melted butter, but yeah, melted butter is the way to go. Heaven.
According to our betters in the media, only white males are racist. Everybody else gets a pass.
Geez, where the hell have you been? Did you just wake from a 50 year coma? /s
I don’t actually grow artichokes. I run an ag service company in Castroville, Ca. I am responsible for the crop protection of some 6,000 acres of artichokes and some 8,000 acres of row crop vegetables. I also consult on 12,000 acres of rice and tomatoes in the Sacramento Valley. Anyhow I BBQ my artichokes. Cook them then marinate them overnight then put them on the grill. Can’t beat it.
I sure do miss the Sacramento Union.
Hey, let’s have a “going out of Øbongo” sale!
I grill the smaller, more tender ones. Then I add them to my frittata. They are also great stuffed, fried and cooked slowly in a marinara sauce.
Someone who says despicable things about Trump is an anti-Scottish Americans . Is that racist?
What do you marinate them in overnight?
An artichoke is just a delivery system for butter.
Yea, I’m probably a racist, at least as that term is defined by the left. But that doesn’t mean I am wrong about Obozo being the worst US President of all time.
Melted butter with a dash of lemon juice is my choice - just enough to taste but not overpower.
Was stationed in Southern Italy in late '70s and they grew a lot of artichokes there.
Thanks for the info. I actually have a can of artichoke hearts in the cupboard, long past its best by date. I don’t know if I’ll try those or pick up a whole one at the store. I understand peak season is from March through May, but they’re available year round.
Sounds like you have an interesting job...
You are absolutely RIGHT and proof that one should not post when tired! However, of course, it just makes my post that much more pertinent!
