Conway: Trump backers feel 'betrayed' by Romney consideration
CNN ^ | 11/27/2016 | Tom LoBianco

One of President-elect Donald Trump's top advisers said Sunday that his loyal supporters across the country feel "betrayed" that he is considering one of his most vicious critics, Mitt Romney, for secretary of state. "I'm all for party unity, but I'm not sure we have to pay for that with secretary of state position," Kellyanne Conway, Trump's campaign manager, told CNN's Dana Bash on "State of the Union." She added: "It's just breathtaking in scope and intensity the type of messages I've received from all over the country ... the number of people who feel betrayed to think that Gov. Romney would get the most prominent Cabinet post after he went so far out of his way to hurt Donald Trump."

Conway first opened a window on the infighting in Trump's transition over who should win the powerful role as the nation's top diplomat, when she tweeted on Thanksgiving about concerns with Romney. "Receiving deluge of social media & private comms re: Romney Some Trump loyalists warn against Romney as sec of state," she tweeted, including a link to a Politico story.

It ain’t going to be Mitt.

I think Trump was just letting it be known that he’d consider Mitt seriously to keep the old elite quiet while the Administration was taking shape. I don’t think he’d ever actually have gone there.

I think Donald will make informed decisions, but some may not seem so on the surface to the people. My dad always said since the 1960’s that the Mormons’ wanted to have a President to call their own...but who doesn't?

Give it to Romney, I care not... but if Romney is used, then there is a damned good reason.

Perhaps Trumps election is a result of:

GAME THEORY | Investopedia
Game theory is the study of human conflict and cooperation within a competitive situation. In some respects, game theory is the science of strategy,
or at least the optimal decision-making of independent and competing actors in a strategic setting.

“2016 ELECTION GAME THEORY”

We've now looked at the (Pew and other) statistical results and pundits explanations of the election,
a ‘yuge’ Republican win which doubtless few conservatives regret,
so it teasingly remains good game theory that:

With parts of the population believing they are economically, socially (or otherwise) disenfranchised,
(i.e. they know what ‘snowflake’ complaint box they are in),
and supercomputer and manual statistical models likely
informing us that Donald J. Trump would need a marginal bumping in votes
to overcome the Democrats and the first female President.

Consequently a planned ‘speaking out’ by ‘leaders’ against Trump and the ‘never-Trumpers’ was all-too-easily rolled out to
alienate only a FEW votes from personality cult followers of certain quantified Republican leaders.

However, this actually garnered MANY more votes FOR the top of the ticket as those independents and Democrats
who would first REVEL at the thought of the Rights’ disarray;
then realize THEY could vote 3rd party/top of ticket without betraying their disdain of certain Republican conservatives.

The apparent disarray and confusion of the Conservatives was more likely precision Election Game Theory.

The rogue third-party candidate benefited from a seemingly ‘negative sanction’ from various (reviled) leaders for various (reviled) reasons;
resulting in a NET positive vote effect.

Old Bush Guard ‘looking like’ they were against Trump included Pres. G.W. Bush, Pres. H.W. Bush, Gov. Jeb Bush, and even Barbara Bush.

There there were quite a few in Congress, media, and other. (see: Wiki List of Republicans who opposed Donald Trump presidential campaign, 2016 )

It was a WHOLE SWATH of the Conservative Right!

Dennis Prager finally acquiesced after initially “never trumping”: ... I just don’t understand how anyone who understands the threat the left and the Democrats pose on America will refuse to vote for the only person who can stop them.”

Mona Charen stated “it was an amazing earthquake “

,,, and we thank you all.

Romney knows how to fix things, and the VA is a high priority thing to get fixed.

Will he ban the Boy Scouts from this endeavor as well?

Listen here you never Trump prick. Every time I click on a political thread all I do is read your defeatist post about Trump. I have yet to read one thing posted by you that is supportive of the President elect.

As a trustworthy campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway would never say or tweet something hot like she's been doing without Trump's knowledge and direction.

The president-elect knows that appointing Romney as SOS would totally alienate his conservative base...and the flickering light that the nasty-mouthed Mitt would shed in this high position is not worth burning up an expensive candle.

We are seeing some fine-tuned "strategery" goin' on !!!

This is not from Team Trump-— my speculation-—but I wonder if dangling the Romney appointment isn’t Trump’s way of keeping all these guys on the straight and narrow regarding the recounts?

You’re ad hominem attack is vulgar and completely unnecessary.

I’m not defeatist at all. I supported Trump in word and deed. In fact I would wager that I donated a lot more money that you did.

I’m hopeful that Trump will do well. But I’m a patient person (not a prick as you say) who thinks a lot of people may be getting a little ahead of themselves in their unbridled optimism.

And your statement about not reading anything supportive of Trump is just flat out wrong.

Then why do you keep second guessing everything that he or his spokesperson says or does. Surely you gamemanship is on a higher level than checkers 101.

Why do you feel the need to keep making ad hominem attacks? Is this your modus operandi? If so, there’s no point in further exchanges.

Trump has not savaged Romney. He has brought him into the spotlight and let the chips fall were they may. Educational for Romney & Paul Ryan at the least.

It’s been nerve wracking to even see him considered but it may be a necessary part of consolidating power by showing Romney & his confederates how little support they have among the American people. They will need to get on the Trump train to repair their images or face the consequences. From Trump’s point of view he is less likely to get backstabbed.

How does Romney have so much power?

Probably, because of Weird Jeb's pathetic effort at taking his place at the head of the line, Mittens is the last standing failed good old boy in the GOP elite play list.
GWB - nope.
Mc Pain - nope.
Dole and GHWB - aged out.
Jeb - just plain lame.

Romney lost when he ran and Romney was downright vicious in opposing Trump this time around; neither of which is a deal breaker among GOP party hacks.

I suspect, and hope he’s just using this to jerk mittens’ chain a little before he comes up with a more suitable choice.

My thoughts as well. Old man Romney, when “running” for POTUS, did receive my vote (what choice did we have?) Though my teeth were clenched after being gritted, he did get it. DJT is trusted and I’ll be kind enough to give him lee-way to do what he feels is necessary in his decision making process. The soon to be POTUS has his own way of arriving to conclusions. He has not failed us yet, nor has he broken any promise to date.

It appears Trump was never going to pick Romney. Once again it’s a game of multi-dimensional chess.

This was all about putting NeverTrumpers in their place. All the NR types who thought they could jump on the Trump Train for a ride and be politically influential assuming that everyone would forget the nasty things they said or wrote a few months ago. Bannon and Conway have not forgotten and neither has the rest of us.

The Trump Tower lobby, Trump International, and these media interviews appear to be kabuki and psy-ops made for consumption. It may seem a bit harsh to some, but he needs to do what’s best and not allow the position devolve into a position to box to shield an opponent.

Eventually some of the NeverTrump style media outlets will shut their doors. Most have never made a profit in their own right. They rely upon a few wealthy types, foreign interests, NWO, open borders, TPP and other lobbyists. His attackers and the promoters of these interests and agendas will dry up and little or no influence.

By getting Romney’s name out there for SOS, Trump allowed everyone else to bash him around as a reminder for his 15 minute hatefest during a time when they should have been meeting in solidarity.
