“CA is a net contributor to the federal government.”

Do you have anything that backs up that statement?

There are lots of sources out there that generally agree. CA is a relatively low consumer of Federal dollars on a per capita basis.

Wikipedia has some very useful tables showing Federal spending by type by state, both in absolute and per capita terms

The Tax Foundation ranks CA 42nd out of 51 in dependency on Federal spending (with #1 being the most dependent).

I realize it's The Atlantic but they have some handy maps, including the WalletHub one showing CA ranked 43rd in return from the feds.

I simply wondered if that had changed; right off the bat many of the firms in Silicon Valley probably pay a ton in federal taxes. At some point that will change.
