Went to home improvement store on black friday with a relative while visiting. Lines wrapped all the way to back wall and down on both sides with lines also in middle. Saw whites.. lots of hispanics ...but really no black people which i thought odd..very orderly. No crazy behavior...no place to park in lot. Every spot and down the lot were filled. Had to park at another store. Two hour wait to check out. both of us had to the bathroom at the same time...so guy behind us pushed the cart ahead for us while we were gone....no crazy fighting...people had to use trash cans for carts because there were none available

Why do the stores egg this behavior on, and why do people keep falling for it? I know some people have to make every penny count, but deals and discounts are available all through the year and there are no shortages of consumer goods in the USA. No need to risk life, limb and arrest.

Exactly! I do ALL of my holiday shopping throughout the year. I have a dresser dedicated to holding gifts that can be given at any time; pretty napkins, bottles of lotions, spices, fancy salad dressings, nice kitchen dishtowels, good chocolate bars, candles, books, items I’ve crocheted (dishcloths or scarves), etc.

(Don’t keep the scented candles and the chocolates together, LOL!)

I almost always have a ‘gift’ ready for any event needed.

My family and I do two things - Christmas Gifts need to be ‘consumable’ or ‘practical,’ and some years we just pool our resources and donate to a charity we all agree upon.

We’ve already won The Lottery - we were all BORN in America! :)
