No one can explain to me why Russia, with its history of socialism, would propagandize in favor of an avowed capitalist, while undermining an admitted socialist. Why would Putin support Trump, who is an America-Firster, instead of Hillary Clinton, who would sell the Pentagon for fleamarket stalls if she could make a buck?

It makes no more sense than anything else the Left prattles on about.

I'm not saying that this Russian interference theory is true, but the reasoning behind it would be that a Trump win would mean a chaotic or more isolationist US foreign policy and conflicts between America and its long-time allies, which would benefit Russia.

I'm skeptical about the idea that Russia and Putin were behind things that went on in the campaign, but when you consider how passionately the foreign policy Establishment was against Donald Trump during the campaign, the theory isn't as irrational as you make it out to be.

What upsets me is that we are a couple steps away from a shooting war in Syria, and the democrats keep accusing the Russians of messing with the election. They either need to put up or shut up. Manufacturing their own "reasearch" groups to parrot the accusations is counterproductive to international relations, all for their political agenda.

I am no fan of the Russians. Putin has no interest in fighting ISIS unless ISIS is attacking Assad. The Ukraine and Georgia are good examples of Putin classic Soviet view of the world. In that regard Mitt Romney was correct during the 2012 campaign. If we want to influence the Russians we need to do it economically, by affecting the interests of the oligarchs that bankroll Putin.
