Wildfires are continuing to rage around the country for the fourth consecutive day as Israelis start to prepare and pray for a peaceful Shabbat.
More homes are being evacuated as new fires spread throughout the North and around the Jerusalem hills. On a positive note, most of the 65,000 Haifa residents who evacuated yesterday were cleared to return to their homes on Friday afternoon.
A Greek pilot who arrived to help rescue crews extinguish the blaze, spoke with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at a news conference and noted that this was the second time Greece has come to Israel’s aid in extinguishing a wildfire.
“We are your friends, and we are always here for you,” he said.
Nine suspects have been arrested on suspicion of arson for some of the 220 fires that forced thousands of people to evacuate their homes and destroyed homes and property. Hundreds of people have been treated for smoke inhalation, but no serious injuries or loss of life were reported.
Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan said the situation was “under control” when more fires started on Thursday including 40 in the Upper Galilee area of Nazareth. Areas in the Central Galilee were evacuated when more fires ran ablaze in the Karmiel area.

Many of the fires are the result of arson, Israeli officials said.
“Any fire caused by arson or incitement to arson is terrorism in every sense of the word, and we will treat it as such,” Prime Minister Netanyahu said. At least nine suspects are under investigation.

Knesset Member Ayman Odeh, an Arab, condemns acts of arson as harmful, effecting all. The Palestinian Authority sent eight fire trucks and 40 firefighters to help Israel fight the fires.
Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Russia, Italy, Croatia, Azerbaijan and the USA sent fire-fighting planes to help Israel combat the wildfires. Netanyahu thanked Egypt and Jordan who also offered help.

May already be happening. There are a bunch of wildfires in western NC right now and arson is suspected in several of them. :(
Keeping that list --and also noting which nations are not it, even though they're so much closer to Israel than most of those that have stepped in to help.

Are prescribed burns part of Israeli forest management?
We know the hate the PA has for Israel and jobs are scarce for Palis in ‘Palestine’. A ‘firemen’ would be a highly sought after job, so the ‘firemen’ would be easily influenced to do the will of the PA hence, what type of ‘firemen’ would they be?
Given the number of fires burning in eastern Tennessee, southeast Kentucky, and western North Caroline, one might think that they've already initiated this tactic. So far, the arson arrests that I know about are just stupid people. But one man's stupid is another man's Jihad.
Not a new tactic. How do you think many of our fires, like the ones in Georgia, get started?
Which ones? I have suspected that eventually it would become a tactic.
