In the wake of Fidel Castro's death, the American people are looking to the press and President Obama for the significance of the communist dictator's passing.
The press has been virtually romanticizing the passing of the communist leader, who presided over the nation's economic stagnation and repression from his overthrow of Cuban strongman Batista in 1959 to his turnover of the reigns to the regime to his brother Raul in 2008.
The New York Times' headline illustrates the thorn in the side to the U.S. and the Western Hemisphere that Castro had been for nearly fifty years: Fidel Castro, Cuban Revolutionary Who Defied U.S., Dies at 90.
President Obama gave the following statement on the passing of Fidel Castro:

The president's offering of condolences to Fidel Castro's family and assurances that the U.S. remains a friend and partner to the communist regime led in nepotistic fashion by his brother Raul Castro speaks volumes.
The message was unmistakable to those who do not share the president's obvious sympathy for the Castro regime.

As is so often the case with the left-wing press and President Obama, it's often what is not said that is the most revealing. Compare this with Trump's single line:
"Fidel Castro is dead!"
At this time of Fidel Castros passing, we extend a hand of friendship to the Cuban people. We know that this moment fills Cubans ― in Cuba and in the United States - with powerful emotions, recalling the countless ways in which Fidel Castro altered the course of individual lives, families, and of the Cuban nation. History will record and judge the enormous impact of this singular figure on the people and world around him... - Obama's statement following news of the death of Castro.
"Today, the world marks the passing of a brutal dictator who oppressed his own people for nearly six decades. Fidel Castros legacy is one of firing squads, theft, unimaginable suffering, poverty and the denial of fundamental human rights..." Trump's statement following news of the death of Castro.
We report, you decide...
Compare this with Trump’s single line:
“Fidel Castro is dead!”
That was my exact reaction.
Øbongo - the original weasel-wordsmith.
It’s pathetically apparent that his statements can be interpreted two ways - one a seemingly innocent note of condolence, and one that belies Øbongo’s true affection for tyrants and murderers.
The island, its economy and its vaunted healthcare system are a shambles due to murderous socialism. It is an unheeded lesson to the world, even in this country.
Since man and his government without God are really the tools of Satan, I’ve wondered for a long time if Satan doesn’t blind their minds from the truth of tyranny just as he blinds their minds from the the gospel of the grace of Christ (2 Cor 4:4).
Let me add my two cents.
As a school boy sitting in the waiting room of the dentists office I heard a conversation from a recent Cuban refugee. She was very happy that the Cuban freedom fighter had deposed the brutal dictator Batista.
She went into a long litany of unspeakable treatment of the Cuban people. It was similar to what we've heard about Saddam Hussein and his sons. Rape rooms, torture for sport, etc.
It seems that in lowering himself to the monster's level, Castro became a monster himself.
I’m waiting for soon to be former pResident owebama to order all flags flown at half staff.
Maybe Batista makes Castro’s rise at least understandable but going from the frying pan into the fire doesn’t help too much.
And this news just in . . . Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead.
This just in....Chevy Chase’s career is still dead.
I think you are right.
kid yourself, he has a speech writer who puts every word down on paper for him to read..that is why he depends on teleprompters. With out that help, he st-udders around and is very slow and hesitant in placing his words..
Indicates unmistakably that, given time, obama would transform America into Cuba.
Wonder if the Secretary of Sail, John Kerry, will wind surf to the funeral?
Who cares about this ?
Soros and Hillary are stealing the election
At least we’ll all get two weeks off of work when Obama dictates that all American citizens take time off to mourn.
0bama has lost a soul mate.
