Stein is funny; she signaled hard against Hillary, mostly about war with Russia. It seemed at times that she would be no less happy with Trump than Hilary.
Why assume that it is only left-wing (Soros et al) forces at work.
The Never Trump movement (Bill Kristol, National Review, Chamber of Commerce etc.) has not really gone away. Some may appear to have bended the knee, but they would still like to de-legitimize Trump, to slow his agenda, all while moving full-speed with the Ryan agenda.
Remember Trump fought against the entire power structure (finance, media, academia, big donors, neo-cons and the pundit class, the tech industry, the cheap labor lobbies, the Republican establishment, etc.).
All of the above would like to stop or slow any Trump agenda. Many (not all) of the above would be happy with the Ryan agenda of open borders, big trade deals, privatization/trimming of Social Security/Medicare, etc.
Trump’s populist nationalism represents the first (albeit mild) opposition to the current regime of liberal globalism. Opposition to Trump is the kind of thing that could create strange bed fellows.
Even the MSM is wondering about the amount so quickly raised.
I’ve thought that there could be some GOP-e/#NeverTrump hands contributing to Stein’s money pot.
Excellent points.
