Stanley Ann didn’t qualify under then current statute to pass along her citizenship by her being his parent alone. That required a US birth. (For the #NeverCruz types here, Ted’s mom did qualify by statute to make Ted a US citizen at birth, it’s whether or not that sufficed for Ted to be ‘natural born citizen’ that is controversial.) But if Obama was born in Africa there’s no controversy. He wouldn’t have even been a citizen at birth and if he ever became one later he’s never provided us with any evidence of it.
