Donald Trump schlepped across town on Tuesday to meet with the publisher of The New York Times and some editors, columnists and reporters at the paper.
As The Times reported, Trump actually seemed to soften some of his positions:
He seemed to indicate that he wouldn’t seek to prosecute Hillary Clinton. But he should never have said that he was going to do that in the first place.
He seemed to indicate that he wouldn’t encourage the military to use torture. But he should never have said that he would do that in the first place.
He said that he would have an “open mind” on climate change. But that should always have been his position.
You don’t get a pat on the back for ratcheting down from rabid after exploiting that very radicalism to your advantage. Unrepentant opportunism belies a staggering lack of character and caring that can’t simply be vanquished from memory. You did real harm to this country and many of its citizens, and I will never — never — forget that.

Trump needs to learn fast that you don’t try to “make nice” with the enemy and compromise with them. This is the result of trying to do that. If he makes the typical RINO mistake of softening his conservative positions to try to appease liberal critics, he will be a one-term president.

Trump’s message of wanting to unify the country is exactly the wrong approach to take. That’s like trying to unify with the Nazis instead of defeating and destroying them.

Actually, since the election, the NY Times circulation has increased. But the rise may be reactionary and fade with time.
Well, when is that YOUR position? AHs! You closed your minds long long long ago. In fact, along with algore you may have invented it in the first place. You are the cantors in this Religion of Global. You have Global Climate Change, Global Peace, Global Immigration, Global everything coming out of your ...whatevers.
I am open minded, but I am also a scientics. It means you gather evidence and develop hypotheses and prove your hypotheses and get your scientifically qualified peers to accept you hypotheses and replicate your work themselves and come to the same conclusions. And then you have an accepted hypothesis.
And then you have to figure out workable solutions. That's not science. That's engineering, a whole different set of skills - making things actually work.
But you have no skills. You guys can't write any longer. You certainly can't edit anymore, not the quality of editing that adds value to your authors to improve their production and to your readers to ensure that what is put before them is something they should read AND will actually want to read and having read it will get a point backed up by facts - you know, the true kind, not the false well consider the seriousness of the charge kind.

But this is brilliant strategy from Trump. He offers reconciliation; they answer with petulance and smug self-righteousness. He offers peace; they declare war. He offers to unite; they insist on division.
He’s robbed them of the high ground. So besides their crippled credibility, they’re now fighting an uphill battle.

Trump is not a conservative.
We see that in his appointment of #NeverTrumpers to leading positions inside his Administration.
The enemy is already inside the gates and MAGA already looks like business as usual next year.
Like with Romney and the other never trumpers he is giving them another chance to redeem themselves. So come Jan 21st and moving forward if they continue thier antics he once again show the people, use the trump card, proved his point and can lower the boom
He should just go over their heads and talk directly to us. Leave the times to go through his garbage to find stories. (And you know they will)
