Here's Newt still lobbying for SoS. I have no problems with that as I think he'd have better policy than Romney (yes, SoS...being 4th in succession for POTUS is often of some independent thought). But Romney, if he dutifully carries out the letter and spirit of Trump policy would be an excellent choice and cause far fewer nightly news problems.

Gingrich added that his preferred choices for secretary of state over Romney included former Arizona Sen. Jon Kyl, former U.N. ambassador John Bolton, former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani and former Hewlett-Packard CEO and Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina.

Romney is a lot better than any of those names for that particular job: Casino Host to the World. :)

You want your Secretary of State to be genial, charismatic and completely ineffective, and Romney has all the tools to excel at it.

Trump is going to go with somebody not closely identified with either faction.

That might be Romney or it might not, but it's not going to be somebody who plays an ultra hawk on television, like Bolton.

Corker has ethics troubles, so it's not likely to be him.

FWIW: how weird is it that Gingrich has more of a grudge against Romney than Trump?
