Kathryne,

Greetings and Happy Thanksgiving! My heart goes out to you and other college students around this great nation. You young people have been indoctrinated with a revisionist understanding of the United States of America that makes it impossible for you to know and believe truth. I shed tears at the thought that you cannot enjoy America's Christian Holidays because of the heavy weight of "white guilt" that you bear.

You see, the historical story of Thanksgiving has nothing to do with race. Rather, it is an acknowledgment that there is only one race, the human race, and that the God of the human race is a God of love, mercy, self sacrifice, and redemption. Thanksgiving shows that the sovereign, loving God sent Christ fearing men and women to the shores of America to bring the light that is the light of all men. Those same men and women came to the aid of the Wampanoag people who were under genocidal threat from other tribes.

The Thanksgiving Story shows how God works in the lives of believers, and unbelievers, by his sending Squanto ahead of the pilgrims to the Wampanoag to facilitate their settlement. Yes, there were injustices, and those injustices were on both sides for it is the heart of man that is the epicenter of evil in the world. However, in the Thanksgiving Story the genocidal norm of unregenerate man was quenched by the the Spirit of God that came with the Pilgrims. As the Pilgrims flourished along side the the natives who received civilization, they built the Ivy League colleges to reach out and help the natives understand the God of civilization.

Why do you bear guilt for colonialism? It was God who ordained that men spread across the face of the earth to populate it? What should the pilgrims be forgiven of? Surviving? Helping the neighboring tribes? Putting an end to the genocidal norm of brutal tribal America as the Christian culture spread through the land? Setting up schools to send missionaries out to bring Christian Truth and civilization to the natives who had not even developed the wheel.

The story of Thanksgiving is not a story of exploitation, but rather an equal-opportunity story of God's love and outreach to two groups, Native Americans and White Settlers. The Bible states, God is no respecter of persons, and he judges the content of man's character rather than the color of his skin. One thing I agree with you Katheryne regards open dialog. Yes, we need to open up dialogue with our family members regarding the true historical Thanksgiving and not the revisionist version that you have been indoctrinated with. We need to be truly thankful for God's love and mercy for natives and white settlers alike on this holiday. For had the pilgrims not survived, you would have no false white guilt to bear.

Happy Thanksgiving Katheryne!

Nice post.

One of the reasons the natives helped the early pilgrims was because they were accustomed to dealing with the French up north. The early French immigrants from even before the 1500’s worked with the natives. They absorbed into the communities, married and had children with the natives. They traded and learned how to survive harsh winter conditions.

But, the British had a different attitude, and not only did they come to American shores and plague the indians, they also plagued the French as a result of the settling of the treaty of Urect.

That’s why the French stood with the Indians during the French and Indian war. The British were a bloody lot at that time and apparently, they were pretty corrupt. The British tried to starve out the French, commit genocide. They stole French lands/farms and forts. They enslaved the people who eventually were forced to migrate south for their very survival. It’s much uglier and deeper than that even, but if you look up the history of the Acadians, it’s there.

I don’t know what kind of racism today’s students think existed, but it had nothing to do with racism. It had to do with the elite ruling class that the British were at that time. Canada has dealt with this hateful snobbishness since the British invasion of that land, and to this day the Queen of GB will not acknowledge or apologize for what GB did back then.

When corruption exists, racism and nationalism can share some very similar qualities. Today, we see that same attitude present in the Democrat elitism that tries to pull from the attitude of the constitutional era saying that the framers intended for an elite ruling class, that the people were never intended to be a part of government. It’s all pretty sick. These are the same democrats who thought slavery was a good thing, and who invented the KKK. They ignore that part of history, and do nothing to teach it to those whom they seek to brainwash.

Everything is racist to them, because THEY are racist. They project their warped image onto others.
