New York (CNN)I never in a million years thought I would be up here on stage appealing for the freedom and safety of American journalists at home. Ladies and gentlemen, I added the bits from candidate Trump as a reminder of the peril we face. I actually hoped that once President-elect, all that that would change, and I still do. But I was chilled when the first tweet after the election was about "professional protesters incited by the media."

It's useless to treat these people with logic or reason. They refuse both. Therefore, we may as well approach them with a bulldozer and treat them the way they've treated conservatives for fifty years.

Funny how old time high school grad reporters demonstrated true reporting abilities, whilst our pretty boys and girls have to establish a pool in order to gather a single IQ point.

The media is whining to justify themselves. Do we really need them? Certainly there are ways to eliminate all the “non-essentials” who express their biased opinions of what a particular issues is instead of actually reporting the actual facts. We could cut down on a lot of garbage news, save electricity, trees, etc. Might even stop the sacred cow “global warming” when we eliminate all their hot air. Now THAT would be a good start to making American Great Again.
Trump has no evil designs to harm journalists. Once their companies go under, they can sign up for Lyft or Uber like anyone else. And maybe Starbucks will be impressed with their fancy degrees and hire them part time.

I’d prefer the European practice of open affiliation between the news organization and a particular political party. At least it would be out in the open compared to the sanctimonious hypocrisy of the “independent” journalism of the United States MSM.

Real journalism has been in danger since it decided to go all out and become just part of the democrat party. Now, their place as honest brokers is being taken over by the new media, including investigative bloggers who often times do the work that journalists won’t do, and do it for free.
Nobody here needed Donald Trump to turn us against the press. For years we’ve known they were bullies, hypocrites, partisans, liars, and psychos who can’t even see their own bias. What could Donald Trump have added to that perception?
