What TV journalists did wrong — and the New York Times did right — in meeting with Trump

On Monday, some of the biggest names in TV news trooped into Trump Tower for an off-the-record meeting with the president-elect.

It was an all-star cast. Not just on-air stars like Lester Holt, Wolf Blitzer and George Stephanopoulos, but their bosses were also summoned before the Potentate of Fifth Avenue.

The meeting was a huge success — for Donald Trump.

Soon after it broke up, a leak to the New York Post brought on a story about how thoroughly the president-elect had taken the attendees to task.

With attribution to anonymous tipsters, the Post wrote: “The meeting was a total disaster. The TV execs and anchors went in there thinking they would be discussing the access they would get to the Trump administration, but instead they got a Trump-style dressing-down. . . . Trump kept saying, ‘We’re in a room of liars, the deceitful, dishonest media who got it all wrong.’ ”

Why off-the-record meetings with Donald Trump are different

Well played, President-Elect Trump. You told them ‘things’ off the record, poured the coals to them, then they reported the ‘off the record’ event anyway, thus proving how corrupt they are. Well played! Well played!

I hope (and think) DJT video taped the entire “off the record” meeting.

'Course that's if you trust the NYPost's anonymous tipsters.

Why would someone who just got dressed down by The Trumpster want to remain anonymous?

Potentate?

LOL

Taking a dump on a busy midtown Manhattan street corner and calling it journalism is never a pretty sight.

It’s as if Henry Ford had called the leading makers of buggy whips to Dearborn to talk about how their current products don’t meet his needs. The real message they should have heard is that their entire business model had just become obsolete.

Broadcast ads will play a minor role in the next Presidential electio, four years from now (which is a long time when you consider that Facebook is only 12 years old and Twitter just 10). The transition will be well underway by the 2018 midterms.

The media people are all wrapped-up in today’s product and haven’t yet figured out that they’re already dead, they just don’t know it yet.

The article from start to finish reminds me why we don’t need these self-important scribes to “filter and fact check” for us simple plebs.
It was an old dog lying and farting, stnking up the bunkhouse. Slim, take the MSM out and shoot it with Carlson’s Luger.

Am I missing something here? Did DJT have a separate meeting for the NYTimes? Why????? To me it’s giving them notoriety and not too cool.

Things have become too accommodating with the backing off of HC (no leverege??), the waffling on climate change, ObamaCare, the Paris agreement, the invitation to Romney, etc.

We really Bannon in there to maintain a cutting edge.

He seems to have backed off waterboarding, baked off loosening libel laws to sue the press, and was complimenting Obama again (this after Obama was bashing him overseas). These things are from the NYT meeting, so I hope they provide a transcript for full context. I want to see that because the NYTs is not trustworthy. He hasn’t even been sworn into office yet, so I’m going to hold my fire because I want to see how he governs.

the media circle jerk continues. They keep telling each other they are still relevant and powerful. So they keep believing each other. Meanwhile the MSM is dying a viscous death and Trump is playing them like a fiddle and they can’t even see it.

"...(Trump)was complimenting Obama again..."

Rush has a theory on this. After meeting with Obama, Trump had a strange look on his face, like some huge secrets were revealed that he had no knowledge of.

Remember, this was their first meeting and Trump, like the rest of us, suffers from normalcy bias. He is very very good at sizing up people. Rush's theory is that Trump judged Obama to be a sociopath/psychopath at that meeting. Realizing that Obama still holds the levers of power Trump has been very careful in handling the president, better to let sleeping sociopaths lie.

Here are some symptoms of a sociopath:

•Glibness and Superficial Charm

•Manipulative and Conning

•Grandiose Sense of Self

•Pathological Lying

•Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt

•Callousness/Lack of Empathy

•Promiscuous Sexual Behavior/Infidelity

Do you think any of these fit the president?
