Yes, it takes time - longer for some than others.
Back in the days when I only had one cat at a time - - LONG ago - I didn’t wait very long after losing one of my sweet kitties. I just couldn’t stand not having a cat in my life.

It didn’t make me stop missing who I’d lost but it was still a bright spot in life having a new little friend to start new memories with. Heck, I still miss cats that I lost years ago and sometimes get tears in my eyes when I look at photos of them.

You’ll know when you’re ready and I hope it isn’t too far off, for your sake and for the lucky lil furball who wins your heart. >^..^<
