Would love to know what you observed. I doubt I will watch it again soon....so fill me in.
I think the original with Sinatra and Lansbury was awesome, too.
A couple that come to mind right off — gonna have to dig out the DVD and pop it in.
1) When the Major is digging into this “conspiracy theory” and goes to the library to research details, he looks into the video camera recording that section of PC’s. In the frame is an Elvis-Presley-kinda-looking (large) guy a row back or so.
2) The civilian contractor (”missing” for years) who is advising Captain (eventually Major) Marco, makes an appearance at the school near the end of the movie. He is (silently) walking down the hallway before they try to set Major Marco up for the assigned task.
3) When Raymond Shaw invites Major Marco up for “lunch” Raymond Shaw is having ...... Cup of Noodles. Some lousy “lunch”. Then-Captain Marco is calmly eating Cup of Noodles while watching the torture/beatings. Which, of course, he’s been programmed to purchase and is doing so when he “accidentally” meets the undercover FBI agent.
4) The woman humming “The Twilight Zone” theme during the interview is an operative. Psy-Ops operative.
5) The guy playing Al Melvin is just great in his part. Just an observation. As is the Albanian scientist who is “disappeared”.
6) “Manuchurian Global” is an obvious reference to Halliburton.
7) The guy at the boarding house, listening to Raymond Shaw talk about poor Americans choosing between medicine and food. And then he says “Don’t you just love this guy?”. This is a super-creepy foreshadowing of Obama 4 years before he shows up speaking all of his platitudes to gain the trust of fools.
That’s about all I can remember off the top of my head. I’ll have to watch it again and see if anything else pops out. Hope you have a chance to see it again soon.
