When you’ve got pop culture demonizing White people for decades, and then a guy like Trump comes along and breaks all these PC taboos, it makes perfect sense that the small handful of White supremacists that are out there would take a liking to him.
That doesn’t mean he shares their worldview. Heck, they’re probably praising Phil Jackson too, because LeBron called him a racist.
How many of them are anti-God/anti-Israel dopertarians/libertarians and how many of them are National Socialists wanting that government partnership?
I’ve heard a FReeper even count monarchists among the “alt-right”. They certainly aren’t on “the right” in any political spectrum.
Coca-Cola (with their Sprite brand) quoted some black separatist/Islamic supremacist rappers on their cans. Barack Obama even partied with one of these bigots who wears a medallion for the group around his neck.
The press was silent about this corporate alliance with a hate group.

I had heard the term alt-right before this election, but I thought it described those blathering about “Zionist Occupation Government” and having affinity to conspiracy theories usually involving the Jews. You can find them in every comment section of the internet.

You’d be better off asking those who were giving the Nazi salute why then me. I think if they’re for limited government they’d shun any actions that might connect them to the statist, big government views of the various fascist movements. Also, if they were truly in support of president elect Trump, I’d say they wouldn’t create distractions. They’re feeding the left’s narrative of Trump when they behave this way. And the racialist views of the speaker do not align him with Barry Goldwater. The rhetoric, like the Heil crap, also doesn’t align with historic American conservatism of any type.
That’s why I believe Trump is right to repudiate them, and then to move on. He should not engage in an ongoing repudiation of every tiny fringe group of racist that may see some way to use his election victory as a way to spread their gospel because you’re right about the media’s motives.
I agree. They’re opportunists trying to use this brief window of attention and trying to take credit for something they had nothing to do with. And Trump’s support for Israel is something they detest.

I agree that definitions are important.
What would the non-alt right be? I don’t get it. I thought that the right was the republicans in power. Fully coopted and corrupted. I thought we and all Trump voters were the alt right. Like the groups you describe. All religions, genders, and orientations, united to fight for second amendment, vetting immigrants, no illegals, no globalist oligarchy ruling us. I thought what made us ALT was the fact that social issues were dropped for general freedom. No PC, but leave gays alone kind of thing.

Whaaa? Trump told you months ago he was not about to telegraph every action he will take in the future. It would be best to play down the Hillary crimes right now. Build his admin, and make sure one day she sees justice. Telegraphing that right now would be dumb.

I’m a conservative. And for me a racist is at best misguided and ignorant, and he is usually a vile idiot.
That guy just showed he is an idiot. He seemed to put on effort to seem respectable (no face tattoos for example), but then he couldn’t just help himself and shouted “Hail Trump! Hail Victory!”. Everyone paying attention got the reference and saw him for what he is.
