The 2019 #Calexit Independence Referendum
In the Spring of 2019, Californians will go to the polls in a historic vote to decide by referendum if California should exit the Union, a #Calexit vote.
You will have this historic opportunity because the Yes California Independence Campaign will qualify a citizens initiative for the 2018 ballot that if passed would call for a special election for Californians to vote for or against the independence of California from the United States.
This is a very important question. It is the responsibility of this campaign to explain what a yes vote will mean for you, your family, your community, our state, our country, and our world. We have designed this website to answer many of these questions and look to you to ask more.
"As the sixth largest economy in the world, California is more economically powerful than France and has a population larger than Poland. Point by point, California compares and competes with countries, not just the 49 other states.
In our view, the United States of America represents so many things that conflict with Californian values, and our continued statehood means California will continue subsidizing the other states to our own detriment, and to the detriment of our children.
Although charity is part of our culture, when you consider that Californias infrastructure is falling apart, our public schools are ranked among the worst in the entire country, we have the highest number of homeless persons living without shelter and other basic necessities, poverty rates remain high, income inequality continues to expand, and we must often borrow money from the future to provide services for today, now is not the time for charity.
However, this independence referendum is about more than California subsidizing other states of this country. It is about the right to self-determination and the concept of voluntary association, both of which are supported by constitutional and international law.
It is about California taking its place in the world, standing as an equal among nations. We believe in two fundamental truths: (1) California exerts a positive influence on the rest of the world, and (2) California could do more good as an independent country than it is able to do as a just a U.S. state.
In 2016, the United Kingdom voted to leave the international community with their Brexit vote. Our Calexit referendum is about California joining the international community. You have a big decision to make.
Remember California, you leave the union, and you no longer can rely on using the Federal Reserve’s printed, fiat currency, nor can you enjoy the massive, yearly $ Trillion in debt-spending of Fed.gov
You will have to create your own, brand new currency, which probably won’t have much value in the eyes of the world or your own people. Issuing debt will be extremely difficult as well. So you will certainly have to pump a lot more oil, grow more food, and end the welfare state.
In sum - California leaves the union, all aspects of the leftist, welfare, crony-capitalist nanny state die immediately. Have you really thought this through?
Please don’t forget that some of us are True Patriots. We’re even the home of FreeRepublic...just up the road a bit from me!
Also...remember that little spat the Nation had over secession? That one called the Civil War? I thought the idea was settled back then?
If it comes to anything, I’ll be working for America from inside the lines. :)
since they’re ok with illegal voting, i suggest we all head over there and help vote em out :)
Going to be interesting to see how the Prune Pickers fund their standing army, better known as the national guard, how they’re going to get the money to rebuild after the next bad earthquake, how they’re going to get use of Colorado River water inasmuch as that river originates in the U.S., where they’re going to get their research grants for their colleges and universities, how they’re going to fund their parks and forests employees, how they’re going to fund their streets and roads and highway system, where they’re going to get the money to upgrade and modernize their airports, their communications systems, and so many more things. So far, all I see is outflow of economy. Further, the U.S. can tax that outflow—tomatoes, avocados, and all kinds of fees, assessments, taxes, and miscellaneous charges on their trucks, airplanes, and other vehicles that enter the United States.
More importantly, can we deport Californians from the rest of the country?

What can we do to help make CA succession happen?
Yes. And I am convinced that this is what happens with uncontrolled immigration by folks who have no desire to assimilate.
If they are taking a meaningless vote, then it’s just too easy to vote for secession. You don’t need to suffer the consequences if it succeeds. Make them put it all on the line by turning it into a US Constitutional Amendment—which would not be meaningless. Then we’ll see if they really want to secede. My suspicion is that the vote would fall well short of a majority even in CA.
Don’t invade! Too messy. Just round up all the illegals in this country, give each a gun and send them across our new western border. That’ll fix their wagons!
I hope they plan on taking their share of the $19+ trillion national debt. If so, good riddance!
Does the website provide for signatures of people in another states who would like to se e California leave?
Welcome to Canada. The threat of Quebec seccesion has existed almost my entire life.
Go for it. I suppose Congress could then approve it. Fine by me. But as of the effective date, the US Government should not send any payments across the California border (Social Security, etc) unless California is current on its per capita US debt obligations.
The Northern California counties that make up the STATE of JEFFERSON want or have nothing to do with the rest of these crazies. It is NOT the USA we want to leave, it is CALIFORNIA!
Have they really thought-through the concept of an independent nation that needs to import most of it’s energy, food and water?
We settled this question 150 years ago.
I don’t understand what this would do. Would they be their own country and not subject to Federal laws so no federal income tax with form your check? What if you are on medicare would that go away would Social Security go away?
I am assuming if those taxes went away then California is going to sock to the people living in the State as far as taxing goes because I am sure they get money or subsidies from the Feds..
