The problem is that if you are from New York are from before teh internet revolution and count yourself educated, the Times is your gospel. I know folks who when searching for information don't search with google. They search the NY times.

Not just people from NY. The Times used to be reliable that way for people in Chicago, L.A., all over.

If you go and look at foreign journalists...like with state-run TV news of Germany...they all quote off the NY Times and think it’s the gospel.
