Donald Trump cancels meeting with New York Times after the paper REFUSES to speak with him off the record ... a day after excoriating private meeting with media execs
Donald Trump was set to meet reporters from The New York Times on Tuesday afternoon for a brief off-the-record session
That was to be followed by an on-the-record discussion with reporters and columnists from the Times
Trump announced on Twitter Tuesday morning however that he cancelled because 'terms and conditions of the meeting were changed'
He followed that up with a tweet 15 minutes later saying that the times covers him 'inaccurately' and with 'a nasty tone'
A Times spokesperson said that the terms were not changed, but that they refused Trump camp's request to have entire meeting off the record
It was also revealed that no one from Trump's camp or the president-elect himself notified the Times that the meeting was no longer happening
The Times on Tuesday published a front-page story detailing some of the companies with foreign governments ties that do business with Trump
Trump has cancelled a sit-down with reporters from The New York Times and the newspaper's publisher Arthur Sulzberger after the newspaper refused to speak with the president-elect off the record.
'I cancelled today's meeting with the failing @nytimes when the terms and conditions of the meeting were changed at the last moment. Not nice,' Trump wrote on Twitter at 6.15am Tuesday morning.
Times however was quick to respond to Trump's claims, revealing that they did not change any terms of the meeting but did refuse to speak with him off the record.

FBN had Stoddard on just now, talking about this and wind farms near Trump courses, along with establishing a blind trust, the details of which have not been announced. She said this is why he cancelled, as the NYT was going to gun for him.
Good for Trump. If a meeting with the NYT isn’t held off the record, then it isn’t a meeting ... it’s a media interview.

I remember when Anita Dunn (she of the ‘Mao is my favorite philosopher’....was Communications Director for the early Obama Admin)said the smartest thing they did in the run-up to the 2008 election was to ‘manage the Media’. Yes, Obama, et al, ‘managed’ the Media by telling them exactly what to print. Trump is going the opposite way, but the Media is/was going the opposite way, too. GO TRUMP! That’s what I was trying to say yesterday . . . Trump needs to control the media instead of the media controlling the president. So far I’m liking what I’m seeing.

I cant wait until Trump tells the media that all “journalists and reporters”, starting on the Jan 21, 2017, will need to apply for, be background checked and finger printed, register with the government, and issued a lisence to exercise their 1st Amendment constitutional rights of free speech concerning matters of the Federal Government.
Intentionally spreading mis-information and lies about the workings and action of the Federal Govt should be a crime punishable by jail and revocation of your 1st Amendment license.
Trump should have one of his surrogates just buy the New York Times, their stock has fallen so low. Problem solved.

I would hope the off-record part (and the prior meeting) is to tell them his investigative team has large volumes of in incendiary information about them with individuals’ names, that he has a full legal team ready to file charges, and that if they remain unfair to him, he pulls the legal trigger in full auto mode.
Just go to social media like he did yesterday. Leave them whining.
If you go and look at foreign journalists...like with state-run TV news of Germany...they all quote off the NY Times and think it’s the gospel.
