Republicans and many other unaffiliated Americans have decided that just being American is enough and have started demanding that the American government start acting on behalf of the best interests of Americans. The vast majority of conservative Americans are NOT bigots of any stripe and that 'hard right' to which you refer, I'm assuming the KKK and such, have no part whatsoever in our movement. They may vote for whomever they wish, that does not make them legitimate in our eyes.
