Don’t let Trump roll back good food policy
Sacramento Bee ^ | November 21, 2016 | Editorial Board

Posted on 11/21/2016 10:30:46 AM PST by artichokegrower

Few states pay closer attention to food than California. We are the cradle of the Central Valley and almond milk lattes, the home of of Full Belly Farms and Alice Waters and Ikeda markets, the state that introduced America to soda taxes and tomatoes to die for and cage-free hens.

Don’t forget those almond milk lattes.

It’s doubtful we would have won WWII without almond milk lattes.

Trump’s energy flies in the face of the junk food complaints.

The Bee is no friend to the California farmers who
produce even more ingredients for the junk food industry
than they do for Michelle Obama’s chosen cause. Here comes
the effed up Bee to the rescue. Hurray for junk food!
STFU, Bee!

Hey California nincompoops, set your own good food policy. The rest of us don’t like Moochelle’ programs and we will do as we wish.

Quit telling us what to do. YOU FREAKIN’ LOST! Got IT?

That’s heart breaking. I lived in the valley in the heart of almond country. A quarter mile up the road was a strawberry farm that had the best strawberrys for dirt cheap. All that is gone.

The government should be limited to giving advice. The people themselves can decide whether the advice is worth considering. Based on the proclamations we have seen heretofore from the government, I would not waste my time even reading or listening to what suggestions they may provide.

Gosh, for a moment there I thought it might be about turning the water back on for central valley farms. Then I saw it was the editorial board.

If they were ever serious about helping people eat better, they’d make cooking classes mandatory. Only problem with that is like everything, it would be a propaganda class which focuses on dogma rather than how to cut an onion.

As usual, there’s just no pleasing them.

I just had oral surgery, and the only thing I want to eat is a bacon cheeseburger with fries. After that, I’ll use my nutribullet and be fine.

However, the burger will have to wait a couple of weeks .. bummer.

The author of that article might like some cheese with that whine-most of us can hardly wait to see Trump ignore the food Nazis-including the kids being served stuff I wouldn’t feed to my cats in the school cafeteria, as ordered by Michelle Obama. I’m a non-GMO-non processed food only type, but I don’t give a s*** what other people or their kids eat-it is a personal choice-none of my business...

I don’t remember Cali introducing America to cage free eggs-they have always been available in rural areas like this one-nobody here keeps chickens in cages-they are all cage free/free range...

The Central Valley? Did they really mention the Central Valley? That is now a barren wasteland, thanks to liberal policies. It is, apparently, far more important to divert water to the delta smelt, a stupid minnow, than to allow it to flow to the farms where food has been produced for generations.

Family farms went under, the area collapsed and Libs congratulate themselves.

If you wonder why produce is so expensive these days, thank a liberal.

Michelle Obama’s “Healthy Lunch” initiative was unpopular and found no takers with kids in schools.

Michelle Obama's "Healthy Lunches" are also identical to the stuff which McDonald's, KFC and Taco Bell sell in their kid's meals. In some cases, using the exact same ingredients from the exact same distributors.

Suddenly, a chicken nugget with ranch dip is "healthy" because it's served by a lunch lady?

Yes...you can drive for HOURS north and south through the Central Valley and see dead orchards. All because of little minnow.

There is no and can be no “good” federal policy on food beyond truth in labeling of contents. That can be squeezed legitimately into the Constitutional requirement to guarantee weights and measures.
