It used to be so easy to lie to Americans, but they are BEGINNING to wise up.
As far as I can tell, most of the fake news sites are run by liberals. Their intent is 1) to bait conservatives into repeating the fake stories thereby making them look like idiots, and 2) to sow confusion and divert attention away from actual liberal misdeeds. By and large conservatives don’t engage in that kind of trickery against liberals. So this guy is taking a problem mostly created by his fellow liberal jackasses and blaming it on Trump and Trump supporters.
