Vice President-elect Mike Pence confirmed Sunday that Mitt Romney is in the running to be Donald Trump's secretary of state.

'I can say that Governor Romney is under active and serious consideration to serve as secretary of state of the United States,' Pence told CBS News' John Dickerson on 'Face the Nation' Sunday.

President-elect Donald Trump and Romney, the GOP's 2012 nominee, seemed to bury the hatchet at a meeting yesterday in New Jersey, after Romney called Trump a 'fraud' and a 'phony' during the Republican primary this spring and Trump had referred to Romney as a loser and a 'choker.'

Pence said Trump was 'very grateful' that Romney came to Saturday's meeting.

'We spent the better part of an hour together with him,' he said. 'And then I know that the two of them actually had some private time together.'

'I would tell you that it was not only a cordial meeting, but also it was a very substantive meeting,' Pence revealed....

no need to SHOUT ;)

That’s what the libs do - to try to hide that they’re either not sure of what they’re saying - or are outright lying and know it. Or, as Ayn Rand wrote: the minute you raise your voice, you’ve lost the argument.

“Rudy - not awfully diplomatic when he gets excited.”

I was thinking the same. That and he sputters.

Guess not any... my bad.

He’s still political toast if he is hired onto Trump’s team...
and probably by design.

Maybe Trump knows things we don’t

FINALLY.

a rational thought! ;)

Gee, ya think he just might know more of what's what than we do, sitting in our little corners over our keyboards?

He didn't get where he is by being stupid - and just about everyone that works for him has been with him for years, which speaks to his ability to put the right people in the right spots - and they obviously have loyalty to him for a reason...

If there’s one thing Romney knows about, it’s China’s currency manipulation and trademark violations.

Why would Trump want a “choker” as his SOS?

Are non-competes allowed in this process? I’d make Romney sign a non-compete, a non-Lobby and a libel suit if he were to be fired at any time of his employment until 2021.

Doesn’t change the fact that Romney betrayed his own party and helped elect the Democrat.

Interesting thought that he may indeed be “dealing” with Romney. Our president elect is a clever man. What better way to deal with Romney's disloyalty than to throw him a bone in the form of a “possible” appointment? Kills two birds with one stone. Romney's take on it is “well...at least I was under consideration” while Trump knows he never seriously considered him in the first place. It will keep Romney from shooting his mouth off again.

For me, it's not a matter of “friends”. I really do not find Mittens trustworthy. I don't doubt his patriotism but he is the kind of “hey look at me” guy who I could see staging Trump if he had the opportunity.

Foreign relations is mostly about business so this is a very reasonable consideration. Plus Mit is light years ahead of either of the past two people to hold that position.

this is a serious mistake.

There are better choices.

Trump has worked hard not to have crony dynastic people in his administration.

This blows it apart.

No Trump NO!

Trump needs cabinet members he can depend on to follow his policies, and not their own. To pursue his agenda, and not their own. I don’t think Romney can be counted on to do that.
